Lamborghini Unveils the All-New Huracán Tecnica

The Lamborghini Huracán has been around since 2014, serving as the marque’s “entry-level” supercar despite it packing a V10. Now, it has arrived as the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica — sitting in between the hardcore track-ready STO and the rear-wheel-drive EVO. In fact, the Tecnica doesn’t just sit in between these two models, it actually borrows from both of them. Lamborghini has put the STO’s naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 into the back of the Tecnica, but introduces the rear-wheel-drive and rear-steering system from the EVO, creating a car that offers 640 HP and 565 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The result is a 0-62 MPH time of just 3.2 seconds — impressive given its RWD credentials — while 124 MPH is hit in just 9.1 seconds, before the car ...

Rare and Pristine Series 1 Range Rover Tuned by Franz Albert Comes up for Sale

There’s been a growing love for the Series 1 Range Rover as of late — whether it be a divisive custom or an electromod from Lunaz, the two-door shape is becoming increasingly loved among classic car fanatics. Now, those whose appetite is whetted by the boxy SUV are in luck, as a rare 1972 Range Rover customized by Franz Albert has appeared on the market. Presented in “Sahara Dust,” which is a highly-desirable shade for the Series 1, this particular car is anything but ordinary. While it’s immaculately clean, it holds a turbocharged secret underneath the hood, which comes courtesy of Franz Albert, the tuning company of Albert Franz who, as Classic Driver notes, “was responsible for tuning many of Willy König’s wild Ferraris and Mercedes.” It’s...

Lucid Motors’ Air Grand Touring Performance Is the Most Powerful Electric Vehicle in the U.S.

There’s a race happening in the electric automotive industry, and it seems that Lucid Motors might have edged across the line with its new Air Grand Touring Performance model. The car was first positioned as the longest-range, fastest-charging electric car on the market, and has since gone on to become the most powerful electric vehicle currently available in North America. It packs 1,050 HP — therefore 31 HP more than the current Tesla Model S Plaid — and it has a class-leading EPA-estimated driving range of 446 miles. In its Air Grand Touring Performance spec, the car will launch to 60 MPH in 2.6 seconds and does so thanks to an all-wheel-drive system connected to a proprietary motor paired to each axle. “Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance answers the strong dema...

Richard Mille-Sponsored SP80 “Sea Rocket” Looks to Break World Sailing Speed Record

Richard Mille-sponsored project SP80 has revealed its final boat design. The sailboat, which is towed by a large kite, looks to break the world sailing speed record currently set at 68.33 knots (79 mph) with a target speed of 80 knots (92 mph). Two pilots will undertake the record-breaking milestone together in the purely wind-powered sailboat. As sailing at 80 knots at sea is similar in intensity to driving a Formula 1 car on land, the boat’s cockpit is reinforced with Kevlar and designed to withstand up to 5G of pressure upon acceleration. The aerodynamic compartments also include bucket seats, 6 point harnesses, helmets, and oxygen masks. “Very early in our development face, it was clear that being alone on board was not an option to accelerate safely up to 80 knots,” ...

Delta4x4’s Rolls-Royce Cullinan Goes Full ‘Mad Max’ Mode

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan was unveiled in 2018, and it has enabled the luxurious British marque to not only set new sales records in-house, but also take a slice of the ever-growing luxe SUV market. Now, thanks to the Bavarian tuners Delta4x4, it seems that the Cullinan could also be set to take on the Dakar Rally — or perhaps some particularly tough countryside terrain. Delta4x4’s take on the luxury SUV is unlike anything any customizer has done before. While 1016 Industries opted for a 3D-printed wide body kit, and the likes of Mansory took things one step further with its UAE special, Delta4x4 goes full off-road rally mode, subverting the true origins of what the Cullinan was built for — that being unrivaled levels of luxury. While this remains inside, the exterior has ...

A First Look at the 2022 Audi S8

Audi has had a long history with prioritizing luxury while not skirting performance, particularly with its S models. For 2022, the German automaker is presenting its new S8 executive sedan, the flagship that continues to offer supercar numbers in a suite of luxury. For 2022, the S8 is updated as a facelift year – a mid-generation life cycle refresh – with subtle upgrades from the previous iterations. Its main updates, according to the brand, really address the comfort and handling sectors of its performance. For instance, the suspension has received a massive tech enhancement; predictive Audi Pre Sense technology makes the active suspension smarter and more intuitive. As the car scans the road ahead with built-in sensors, the suspension is able to cope with inconsistencies on the road – sp...

Ford GT Holman Moody Edition Pays Tribute to ’66 Le Mans Podium Sweep

In the 24-hour 1966 Le Mans race, Ford famously swept the contest, claiming all three podium positions. The unprecedented victories reestablished respect for the American automotive industry which was long dominated by its Italian competitors. The story later served as inspiration for the 2019 film Ford v. Ferrari. The Ford GT Holman Moody Edition in focus is inspired by the livery of the gold GT40 MK II race car that placed third in the ’66 Le Mans race driven by American duo Ronnie Bucknum and Dirk Hutcherson. Exteriors feature exclusive Holman Moody Gold paint, contemporary carbon fiber touches, Brembo® brake calipers, “Heritage Red” accents, and “Oxford White No.5 “roundels. Cabin interiors are finished in carbon fiber and gold appliqués with ebony Alcantr...

Elon Musk Announces Tesla Cybertruck 2023 Launch Date

During the recent opening of Tesla‘s Giga Texas factory, Elon Musk took the stage to present the production model of the Cybertruck. Announced back in 2019, the Cybertruck was originally set for release in 2021, but after a delay, the vehicle is now set to launch sometime in 2023. Musk also issued an apology for the delay of the highly-anticipated Cybertruck. The look at the production model reveals that much of the car’s concept is retained but the handles have been removed, settling on an automatic opening system. The Tesla Cybertruck will be manufactured at the Texas Gigafactory, which is now expected to become the “highest volume” car factory in America. Musk went on to note plans to open more Gigafactories around the world to scale up production, to a scale tha...

Pristine Lexus LFA With Just 850 Miles Hits the Auction Block

It seems that the Lexus LFA might be the next “it” modern-classic supercar, as yet another example of this rare Japanese machine has landed on the auction site Bring a Trailer. In recent months, the LFA has appeared and sold in various forms — from a $1.6M USD Nürburgring Package iteration to the $808,000 USD sale of this standard version. Like those that came before it, this LFA has very low milage, just 850 in fact. With that in mind, it means the car’s naturally-aspirated 4.8-liter V10 has barely been run in, meaning the car’s 552 HP and 354 lb-ft of torque should be on tap as if it were brand new. All of this power is sent to the rear wheels via an Aisin six-speed single-clutch Automated Sequential Gearbox and a Torsen limited-slip differential, while soun...

Would You Pay $84,000 USD for an Automatic MKIV Toyota Supra With 86K Miles?

It goes without saying that the MKIV Toyota Supra is a formidable JDM sports car and one of the most coveted modern Japanese classics around, but fans of the Supra will often claim that the best examples are fitted with a manual gearbox. Yet despite this, it seems the love for the Supra is as strong as ever, as a clean automatic version has just sold via Bring a Trailer. This particular example is finished in white over black leather and packs the quintessential twin-turbocharged three-liter inline-six, but it is rather controversially mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Despite this, all the signatures remain — chrome rims, a large rear spoiler, a chrome single-tip exhaust, coveted 15th-anniversary commemorative badging, and a body-color removable targa top. Furthermore, t...

Daimler‘s Smart has unveiled its all-new model #1  SUV, a compact full-electric vehicle that builds upon the niche urban practicality of its predecessors to provide a more all-rounded experience with a larger profile, added performance, and new tech upgrades. Departing from the ultra-compact cars the company is typically known for, Smart #1 arrives with much more interior space accompanied by a revamped futuristic design language. Exteriors display smooth liquid lines, frameless doors, retractable door handles, and a “floating halo” panoramic glass roof. Goodyear is Developing Sustainable Tires Made From Dandelions

With automakers almost unanimously transitioning into electric vehicles and looking for sustainable solutions in manufacturing and production, the world’s leading tire companies such as Goodyear and Michelin are making their own push to find innovative solutions for the betterment of the planet. Goodyear’s latest project aims to use the roots of a species of dandelion called Taraxacum kok-saghyz, or “TK” in short, to produce a new kind of natural rubber. While traditional rubber trees can only be grown in tropical climates and take around seven years to harvest, the dandelion can be harvested every six months and are much more resilient to different temperatures and environments. 90% of the world’s natural rubber is currently sourced from rubber trees, which h...
