Exterior automotive designer Alexis Poncelet has rendered a futuristic Honda “HR-X Delsol” concept, imagining a sleek post-apocalyptic vehicle that straddles the line between a space rover, Tesla’s Cybertruck, and a futuristic electric racer. “Honda brought a meaningful and toyish approach recently,” wrote Poncelet in an introductory post. The HR-X Delsol arrives with “tiny utility inspired by the charm of Honda’s e-drag racer, the 3-seater front row from the Honda FR-V, and the silhouette & deck from the CRX Delsol. The concept “would be a new segment that makes the brand stand even more apart,” Poncelet adds. The two-door electric pickup arrives in a dark metallic colorway with distinct off-road caged rims and a futuristic faux gr...
This is the all-new Range Rover Sport. Launched today, this 2023 model year takes everything the last Range Rover Sport did, and did so well, and refines it. Here, Land Rover Range Rover offers an entirely new car that’s muscular, dynamic, modern, sophisticated, prominent, rugged and more, giving the car its deserved title of a “do anything, go anywhere” type of machine. The new Range Rover Sport looks familiar, in the same way that the new flagship Range Rover also looks like a modernized, updated refresh to the outgoing model. At the front of the new Sport, you’ll notice things are elongated — ironically, a reductive design approach allowed the designers to play with proportions in more intelligent ways, adding thinner but wider headlights to make the front ...
With anticipation ever-increasing, DeLorean has now decided to shift up its global reveal date for the EVolved by three whole months. Announcing the news over on Twitter, the automaker says that the new reveal date has been moved up from August’s Pebble Beach event to the end of May. The company says the shift was due to popular demand from fans, and also shared a new teaser of the upcoming EV, showcasing its rear light bar and a shadowy silhouette of the rest of the vehicle. Other details revolving around the EVolved remain scarce at the moment, but sources have said it’ll feature gullwing doors, and its name also suggests an electric powertrain. For fans of DeLorean, definitely be on the lookout for the global reveal of the EVolved on May 31. You can also sign up for exclusiv...
Ferrari unveiled the LaFerrari in 2013 as a rival to McLaren‘s P1 and Porsche‘s 918 Spyder, completing the holy trinity of the world’s first hybrid hypercars. Following that came a limited run of the LaFerrari Aperta, and now one of the 210 made is up for sale with Bring a Trailer. Finished in “Rosso Corsa” over black leather and Alcantara upholstery with red accents, this particular LaFerrari Aperta comes with plenty of optional extras that make it stand out even more than a “regular” LaFerrari. For example, a carbon fiber windshield frame and roof trim panel, costing $41,000 USD, and a visible carbon fiber removable hardtop roof, costing $71,000 USD, have been specced. Additionally, you’ll find center-locking forged-allow five-spoke rims, c...
After debuting the single-motor RWD Debut Edition of the LYRIQ back in April last year, Cadillac has now unveiled a dual-motor AWD trim for the SUV. As you’d expect, the additional motor gives the power output of the trim a pretty significant bump from 340 horsepower to 500 horsepower sent through all four wheels. Cadillac hasn’t provided any figures for the updated torque, although the standard edition makes 325 pound-feet, so you can expect an increase from that number as well. Towing capacity now comes in at 3,500 pounds, and the car will share the same 100kWh battery pack as its RWD counterpart, which will give it a range of roughly 312 miles on a single charge. With fast DC charging, the SUV can run for around 75 miles after 10 minutes, and a Level 2 charger will give it 5...
Few people get to own a Ferrari in their lifetime, let alone work with the Italian marque’s Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni on creating their own one-off custom supercar, such as the utterly gorgeous SP48 Unica. Based on the Ferrari F8 Tributo, this one-of-a-kind custom build takes the F8’s body and applies a new skin, breathing fresh life into the familiar supercar. It shares the same format and layout — two seats, a twin-turbo V8, and clean lines — but much has been done to make the SP48 Unica stand out from the crowd. For example, a new arrow-shaped front profile has been designed to give the car more of an aggressive, pointed stance, accentuated by procedural-parametric modeling techniques and 3D prototyping that allowed Ferrari to redesign and move the fron...
The automotive crowd loves a pocket rocket, and it also loves nothing more than a well-considered homage — so welcome to the Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally, which pays its respects to the much-adored Abarth 131 Rally that turns 40 this year. Limited to just 695 units globally, this particular car is also a very rare piece of automotive history. It comes in a bicolor three-layer “Blue Rally” glossy hue, reminiscing the color that made the original 131 Rally so popular in the 80s, and as it’s an Abarth car, plenty has been done to take this from a Fiat 500 to the mini hot hatch that it is. For example, the 1.4 T-jet engine offers up a punchy 180 HP and 250 Nm of torque at 3,000 RPM, sending the car to 62 MPH in a respectable 6.7 seconds, before hitting its 140 MPH top s...
For many of those who grew up in the 1980s and ‘90s, Mercedes-Benz is a lifestyle. Per will.i.am’s rapping in his exclusive interview with HYPEBEAST, he reminded us how the German marque is intrinsically woven into music – “Me and Lorenzo rollin’ in the Benzo” from NWA’s “Fuck Tha Police” and “The AMG kit keeps us closer to the ground” of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Posse’ on Broadway” are only a small percentage of lyrics that infiltrated the hip hop scene 30 years ago. Couple that with Rakim rocking Mercedes chains or JAY-Z and Kanye West destroying a Maybach in the “Otis” music video, and Mercedes-Benz’s prevalence in music is undeniably enviable. Likewise, Mercedes-Benz is also heavily referenced in fashion. Palace returned to its Mercedes-AMG partnership this March, Virgil Abloh’s collabor...
Nissan has officially closed off orders for its 2022 GT-R in Japan, potentially marking the last time the R35-generation GT-R will be offered by the brand. The 2022 GT-R was launched in its home market of Japan exclusively in premium-edition T-spec and high-performance Nismo variations. It was axed from Australia and banned from Europe earlier this year due to emissions regulations, while the U.S. introductions were labeled as 2021 models. On May 3, Nissan officially announced that sales of the vehicles have ended “because the number of orders has reached the planned sales volume.” When questioned by CarScoops regarding the future of the GT-R, Nissan responded, “the 2022 GT-R was only released in Japan and was only designated with the GT-R T-spec and NISMO Special Edition...
In a new report from the Financial Times, Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess has revealed that the automotive company has “basically sold out of electric vehicles in Europe and in the United States”.” Those looking for an EV from the manufacturer in the VW, Audi or other brands, are expected to have to wait until 2023 before they can get their hands on these cars. Volkswagen has also been dealing with issues caused by the COVID supply chain issues, as chip shortage and production loss have been endured due to shutdowns in China. VW is not the only car company that had to slow down its EV production as many electric vehicle producers were also facing challenges. The publication has reported that in Q1 2022, VW sold under 100,000 electric cars, whereas Tesla sold 310,000 in the s...
Brabus is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion it has built the Brabus 900 Crawler — the company’s first supercar to feature an in-house developed chassis and a four-seater exposed-carbon buggy-style body. While there are similarities to Mercedes-AMG‘s G 63, very little of the 900 Crawler is shared with the original SUV. Here, this limited-to-15 dune racer features a custom exposed tubular chassis made from high-intensity steel that’s been painted in the brand’s signature red hue, while portal axles at the front and rear raise the car to 53cm of ground clearance, making it possible to tackle almost any terrain it faces. Elsewhere, height-adjustable special struts with adjustable damping provide up to 160 mm of spring travel, Bra...
ABT and Audi have a long-standing relationship of taking the German marque’s RS-line cars and pushing them to the next level, but never has its work resulted in a world-first, such as this RSQ8 that’s dubbed the “world’s only racing utility vehicle.” Limited to 96 editions, this RSQ8 is nothing like the standard model. It features a “Carbon Bold” design language that sits alongside glossy black forged wheels with self-leveling hub covers, functioning front skirt inserts with enlarged air intake grilles, a carbon insert underneath the hood shut line, carbon wheel arch extensions, more carbon on the spoiler and deck, and a full carbon diffuser housing ABT quad exhausts. Those exhausts are connected to a four-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that pro...
