One of less than 3,000 reported examples for the model year, the classic truck is powered by a turbocharged 4.3-liter V6 rated at 280 horsepower when new, as well as a four-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet has now confirmed long-held rumors that its iconic Corvette is finally going electric. The automaker took to Twitter to announce the news along with a short video of what appears to be an electric Corvette prototype speeding through the snow. While details remain scarce at the moment, Chevrolet says that an “electrified” version (meaning hybrid) could come as early as 2023 while a fully-electric version will follow later. The move probably won’t come as a surprise to those following the automotive industry closely. General Motors has long announced plans to only sell electric vehicles by 2035, so it’s only natural for the Corvette to transition into a more sustainable powertrain eventually, just like the new Hummer. Koenigsegg has revealed the pre-production test model for its fastest car now and ever, the Jesko Absolut. The speed-focused Jesko Absolut was slated to appear a year after the introduction of the “standard” Jesko model in 2019 but was set back by various global uncertainties and supply chain shortages, until now. “We will never endeavor to make a faster series-production road car – ever,” Koenigsegg stated in a press release. Powered by the same twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8 and nine-speed transmission as the Jesko, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut model delivers 1600 horsepower and over 1,100 lb/ft of torque with a “theoretical” top speed of 330+ miles per hour. After teasing the vehicle over recent months, Lexus has finally unveiled its first EV designed for global production: the RZ 450e electric SUV. As you’d expect, the new RZ 450e is built on the same e-TNGA architecture shared by both Toyota and Subaru‘s own electric SUVs, and runs on a DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive powertrain with a 71.4kWh battery that provides a range of 225 miles per single charge. While the automaker hasn’t specified exact numbers, it says the front motor can deliver 201 horsepower to the front axle while the rear motor can push out 107 horsepower to the rear axle.
