For its first foray into electric cars, British luxury automaker Lotus introduces a striking all-electric Hyper-SUV named the “Eletre.” The 4WD Eletre is powered by a 100kWh battery equipped with fast-charging capabilities that deliver 248 miles of range in just 20 minutes. The car’s max WLTP range is reported at 373 miles, similar to that of the Tesla Model X Long Range, and motors generate 600hp, propelling the car to top speeds of 161 mph and recording zero to 60 mph times of less than three seconds. “The Eletre is a bold and revolutionary new car, delivering on our commitment to move Lotus into completely new automotive segments as we widen our global appeal and accessibility,” Matt Windle, Managing Director, Lotus Cars, commented. “This is a momentous poi...
The Lamborghini Urus has become a symbol of showboating among the car community — if you want an SUV larger and louder than life, this is the one. For Platinum Motorsport this wasn’t enough, so the L.A-based auto shop has decked its matte gray iteration in a host of modified parts to truly stand out. Starting with the unavoidable, the Urus now wears a 1016 Industries wide body kit that’s been wrapped. From there, the SUV is slammed low, accentuating the width of the car further. 24-inch Forgiato rims only add to the menacing stance, while a CAPRISTO exhaust system that pokes out underneath the rear carbon fiber diffuser rounds out the list of upgrades, but should make the car noticeable from a few miles away. MANHART is best known for modifying fast German cars such as the BMW M5, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and the new Mercedes-AMG SL, but sometimes it also turns its hand to something a bit more familiar such as the BMW M135i xDrive. While by no means slow, it’s a switch up from its usual roster of tuned cars, taking on one of the most formidable hot hatches money can buy today. Dubbed the MANHART MH1 350, the M135i finds its two-liter twin-turbocharged four-pot engine get a boost from 306 HP and 450 Nm of torque to 350 HP and 524 Nm, resulting in enough torque to make the car pull from all speeds. The result sees its 4.8 seconds 0-62 MPH time come down to the low four-second mark, while visceral elements such as sound and handling are also enhanced. This comes courtesy of four matt black 90-mi...
Ferrari F50s rarely come up for sale, let alone one that’s been converted by Pininfarina to be a one-of-eight official right-hand-drive iteration, served up in the desirable colorway of “Rosso Corsa” over “Black” leather. But alas, RM Sotheby’s proves to be one of the best in the game as it has listed this exact car for sale. In recent times, Mike Tyson’s F50 was put up for sale, as was a one-of-four “Nero” iteration. Both accumulated sales upwards of $2M USD — and that was back in 2017 and 2016, respectively. This particular example up for sale through RM Sotheby’s private sales team is incredibly clean, reading 21,294 miles on the odometer and standing as the 298th of only 349 numbered F50 examples made between 1995 and 19...
Following on from its real-life BMW M135i xDrive build, the tuning company MANHART has now teased its take on the upcoming Range Rover. As of writing, the new Range Rover isn’t officially available — it is, however, expected to launch sometime later this year in various guises, ahead of 2024’s all-electric version. Regardless, MANHART has revealed its Range Rover Vogue RV 650, designed exclusively for the Middle Eastern market. Based on the flagship SV model — which will launch with a choice of either a 530 PS twin-turbo V8 or a 510 PS plug-in hybrid engine — MANHART tunes this to deliver 650 HP, which is more than any current Jaguar-Land Rover offering. Black adorns the exterior alongside a gold-toned trim decorating the grille surround, lower grille housing,...
A 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo 993 exclusively owned by actor Denzel Washington is now up for auction with just 18k miles on the odometer. The car arrives with black (L741) paintwork and black interiors, running a twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six engine and a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip rear differential. Original 18″ Turbo Twist rims below are complemented by Michelin Pilot Sport N2 tires and red Porsche-branded brake calipers. Arriving with the vehicle is the car’s original toolkit, cle...
For car enthusiasts, driving is about more than just the technical specifics. Open Road explores not just what these cars do, but what they mean. Whether it’s an old, new, or exotic model, HYPEBEAST is looking beyond the stats to unpack the simple pleasures of automotive. Electric cars will soon be the de facto mode of transport. Even though today’s choice is nigh on endless – ranging from EV city cars such as the Fiat 500e to performance wagons like the Porsche Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo – many petrolheads still feel that the electrification of automobiles could be their demise. This is where Everrati comes in – a British start-up that takes classic models such as this 1990’s Porsche 911 (964) and restores them before implanting an electric motor. Electro-modding is not a new thing. In...
The conceptual artist Khyzyl Saleem brought us the Porsche 992-generation 911 GT3-inspired Volkswagen Beetle earlier this month, and now the renderer continues to enhance beloved cars for Hagerty, presenting models such as his custom Nissan 400Z. Like the Beetle, this rendering of the customized 400Z is absurdly wild. If money was no object and creativity was allowed to run free, this is the widebody kit that many tuners would adorn their car with. It features a G-nose, similar to that on the original 240Z, as well a much wider body kit on the sides sporting fenders and wheel arches that now house Watanabe eight-spoke rims. Elsewhere, we find the long hood decorated with vents, wide riveted rear wheel arches, a carbon fiber diffuser sporting stacked quad pipes alongside a carbon light surr...
Before the bright lights of the NBA, Rui Hachimura experienced the carefree joy of sport through his bike rides to basketball practice. Last year, the Washington Wizards forward partnered with American bicycle brand Cannondale to reconnect with his youth and help spread the adventures he cherished as a child. The result is a stealth city bike dubbed the Quick 3 “Rui Edition.” Perfect for exercise, getting around town or just feeling good, the bicycle features a prominent red-to-black colorway that is complemented by a triangular pattern inspired by traditional Japanese hemp leaves. The Quick 3 comes equipped with a lightweight aluminum frame and carbon fiber fork with 360-degree reflective accents, along with Shimano Altus/Acera 18-speed drivetrain with hydraulic disc brakes an...
This year’s Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) will see a Mitsubishi Triton one-ton pick-up truck compete in the gruelling South East Asian off-road motorsport event. The pick-up, know in other markets as the L200, will compete under the Team Mitsubishi Ralliart banner, a private team owned by TANT Sports in Thailand, with Mitsubishi itself providing technical support. Hiroshi Masuoka – a two-time Dakar Rally champion – has been drafted in as team director. “For many years, Mitsubishi Motors competed in the World Rally Championship and the Dakar Rally, winning championships in both of them and improving the driving performance of Mitsubishi cars that can be enjoyed with peace of mind in any weather or road conditions,” says Masuoka. Mitsubishi Motors – which revived its Rall...
If you think the Mercedes-AMG G 63 is a shrinking violet, even if it comes in Brabus guise, then the tuning company has just the right thing for you — the Brabus 800 Adventure XLP SUPERWHITE. Measuring 5.31 meters long with almost 20 inches of ground clearance, the truck is one of Brabus’ most outrageous builds to date, but it does come with plenty of goodies to make it more than just a showboating exercise. For example, a four-liter twin-turbo V8 engine produces 800 HP and 1,000 Nm of torque, which sends the pick-up to 62 MPH in just 4.8 seconds — impressive given its size. It’ll top out at 130 MPH, but speed is not this truck’s calling, as it should be able to tackle any terrain you throw at it thanks to its huge 22″ all-terrain tires and technical set...
For our latest installment of Essentials, we look into the everyday necessities of Ken Gushi, pro racing driver and Formula Drift competitor. Born in Japan’s tropical fantasy island of Okinawa and raised in sunny California’s San Gabriel, Ken found himself in the drifting game early on, largely from his father Tsukasa Gushi. As such, his story is not so dissimilar from the pages of famed drifting manga Initial D: he began his drifting journey at the age of 13 and started competing in Formula Drift at 16 even before passing his driving test, making him the youngest competitor in the sport at the time. Since then, Ken has found success with podium finishes, prized wins, and entry into the most grueling races, including the world renowned Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 2007. Ken now dri...
