Lexus launched the LFA 12 years ago, shocking the automotive industry with its high-revving V10 supercar that was futuristic even by today’s standards, rapidly fast, rare, luxurious, and gave its Italian, British, and American counterparts a run for their money. Now, the luxury marque has provided a first look at its electrifying future, revealing its “future Lexus sports car.” While Lexus calls this a sports car, industry insiders will immediately throw the word hypercar at this conceptual creation. Coming as part of the marque’s BEV line-up that will all launch by 2030, the concept you see above is particularly special, as it will use solid-state batteries capable of offering up to 430 miles of range and a 0-62 MPH time “in the low two-second range.” L...
Lamborghini is hoping to keep producing combustion engine vehicles beyond 2030. Speaking to a German newspaper recently, the Volkswagen-owned supercar brand’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed his interest in keeping ICEs alive despite the company’s gradual shift towards hybrid and electric models. “After hybridization, we will wait to see whether it will be possible to offer vehicles with an internal combustion engine beyond 2030,” he remarked. “One possibility would be to keep combustion engine vehicles alive via synthetic fuels.” The new comments also come after Winkelmann delayed Lamborghini’s release of a fully-electric car by the end of the decade instead of the previously-stated second half of the 2020s, marking the automaker’s reluctanc...

Celebrating the launch of the 2022 V-Series Blackwing, American luxury car manufacturer Cadillac enlists young racing champion Amna Al Qubaisi to put the new CT5-V Blackwing to the test. Setting a record time around Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, at just 2:20.98 minutes, the everyday performance vehicle was crowned the “Fastest Production Sedan” to complete the track. Not only recognized for setting records in the new Cadillac, Amna Al Qubaisi is honored as the first Emirati female driver to ever participate in the sport. As the daughter of Khaled Al Qubaisi, the first Emirati to compete at the 24 hours of Le Mans race, as well as the older sister to Italian F4 racer Hamda Al Qubaisi — making history in competitive racing runs in the family. I’ve been told that parents allowed their...
DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) has teased an upcoming DeLorean sports car in a new video shared by Italdesign, the design firm behind the car’s original styling. At the beginning of 2021, Italdesign shared a teaser image of what appeared to be a new DeLorean vehicle alongside the DMC logo before going completely silent on the subject. Now, on DMC’s 54th anniversary, the company has shared a video providing another look at the upcoming vehicle under the tagline “the future was never promised.” DeLorean took to social media to share the teaser and encourage people to “sign up for the premiere of the DeLorean in 2022.” Additionally, DLC used several hashtags on the post, including “#ElectricVehicle,” suggesting that the automaker’s latest mo...
Few cars capture the zeitgeist of the ’90s like the BMW M3 E30 or Mercedes-Benz‘s DTM homologation-special 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II. The former is even rarer than its competitive German counterpart, loved by the automotive industry for its ability to throw every rule out of the window when it comes to designing and making a sedan. For this, ‘Benz produced 502 examples of a road-going DTM-inspired 190E that packs a 2.5-liter Cosworth inline-four mated to a dogleg five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Now, number 473 is up for auction with Bring a Trailer. It was previously featured on BaT in 2015, when it cost a handsome $175,707 USD. Times are changing however, and the Evo II is now worth much, much more than that price. Since, we’ve seen c...
Since the reveal of the Tesla Cybertruck, engineers have created offerings to elevate the vehicle. Amongst those is the Cybercat, which turns the Cybertruck into an elite, battery-powered catamaran. American materials scientist Anthony Diamond developed the Cybercat accessory that sees the all-electric vehicle outrigged with a pair of attachable pontoons and outboard motors. The Cybercat installation or breakdown can be done easily by one person in less time than it takes to launch a boat. Since all components of the catamaran can be collapsed into various moving parts, the pieces can be conveniently stowed away in the Cybertruck vault. With the help of interconnecting sensors, power/data connections and pontoon pressure transducers, the Cybercat digitally verifies whether or not the piece...
Brabus is known for its outrageous Mercedes-Benz tunes and one-off supercars, and more recently it has even dived into the world of boats, but now it has launched its latest venture presenting its first-ever motorbike, the Brabus 1300 R. Based on KTM‘s 1290 Super Duke R Evo — which is the Austrian marque’s latest “Naked Bike” offering and by far its most technical machine to date — the bike packs a V-Twin engine producing 180 HP and 140 Nm of torque out of its namesake 1,301cc, resulting in a 0-62 MPH time of 3.2 seconds, and comes with Semi-Active Suspension Technology that adapts to the road’s surface to provide optimum levels of grip. Additionally, damping modes range from comfort to street and sport, while elements such as the seat and handleba...
STILRIDE, a Swedish start-up founded in 2019, is pioneering “industrial origami,” a sustainable method of manufacturing electric scooters and motorcycles using upcycled scraps of steel. Founders Tue Beijer and Jonas Nyvang envision STILRIDE as a sustainable manufacturer of high-performing electric bikes using scraps of recyclable steel. Nyvang adapted early sketches of the SUS1 e-scooter using paper origami as a visual mock-up of the current model. In a similar fashion, STILRIDE uses robotic arms to contort and twist sheets of steel into curved folds, molding the chassis of its e-bike from scrapped recyclables. Coined “industrial origami” by the internal team, the process yields a chassis that requires 70% fewer components and reduces labor production costs by 25%. The company model radica...
Tesla is now recalling yet another 578,000 vehicles over concerns with its Boombox feature. According to Reuters, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found that the company’s Boombox feature, which allows drivers to play music and sounds through an external speaker system, has the potential to overpower the required sounds from its Pedestrian Warning System, a federal safety regulation that requires an EV to make clearly audible sound when it’s traveling at speeds below 18.6 mph. 2020-2022 Model X, Y, and S vehicles as well as 2017-2022 Model 3 cars are affected by the recall, and Tesla will now be issuing an OTA update to disable Boombox when the vehicles are in Drive, Neutral or Reverse. As Engadget points out, this will be the automaker’s fourth reca...

The next chapter of Singer has just been announced. Listening to its clientele of air-cooled 911 owners, Singer will now be extending its restoration services to incorporate turbocharging. “My first ever ride in a Porsche 911 as an 11-year-old in 1976 left me dry-mouthed and speechless – it was a black 930 Turbo with red tartan seats. Forty-five years on from that life-changing moment I’m excited to present the results of our study that aims to capture the awesome thrill of Porsche’s first ‘supercar’ while reimagining its performance and refinement and collaborating with owners to take both to new heights. I believe it’s a fitting tribute to a car that changed my life and many others,” said Rob Dickinson, Founder and Executive Chairman, of Singer Group Inc. Starting off as a Ty...
