Audi has officially announced that its new V6 diesel models will now be able to run on renewable fuel. The German car manufacturer has recently approved a number of its v6 and four-cylinder diesel engines to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil, also known as HVO. HVO, which is derived from waste materials and residue from the agriculture and food industry, is expected to help push Audi into a more sustainable direction. Audi states that the use of sustainable fuel would lead to carbon dioxide reductions of between 70% and 95%. HVO also has a much higher cetane rating, causing cleaner combustion in comparison to fossil fuel diesel. A 2004 Porsche Carrera GT that was previously owned by Jerry Seinfeld is up for auction. The vehicle, one of 1,270 manufactured during its four-year production run, first appeared in the year 2000 at the Paris Motor Show and entered production in 2003. The comedian purchased the Carrera GT in 2005 while living in Manhattan. The car would remain in his possession until 2011. Following its sale, it was transported to Oregon and was bought by its current owner in 2015. The carbon-fiber body of the car features removable rooftop panels, as well as an undertray and a rear diffuser. A rare 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI is currently up for auction. The vehicle was originally sold as an “Extreme” edition and is believed to be the last of 26 models produced. The car features a Ralliart-blueprinted 2.0-liter engine with a competition-grade crankshaft, high-lift cams, a competition head gasket, reprogrammed ECU and more. Additionally, the engine is turbocharged and has been equipped to deliver about 380 bhp to all four wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Stratolaunch‘s “Roc” carrier aircraft recently completed its fourth test flight. Roc is currently the largest aircraft in the world with a wingspan of 385 feet (117 meters), more than triple that of the commercial-industry-standard Boeing 737. The carrier’s purpose is to serve as a launchpad for its upcoming hypersonic testbed vehicle, Talon-A, an autonomous, rocket-powered, and reusable craft capable of carrying payloads at speeds of above Mach 5 (over 3,000 mph and five times the speed of sound). British sports car maker Morgan has dropped the new Super 3, the 113-year-old marque’s most powerful three-wheeled vehicle to date. The Super 3 – which represents a new product family within Morgan, replacing its 3 Wheeler model – is the company’s first use of a monocoque structure and is built on its three-part aluminum platform. The “jet age” inspired three-wheeler is powered by a 1.5lt Ford three-cylinder, which outputs 118bhp at 6,500 rpm while only weighing 635kg (1,439lbs), and is coupled to the same five-speed gearbox used in the Mazda MX5. Volvo has added a special Black Edition styling option, featuring exclusive high gloss black accents and badging, to its S60 Sedan. The limited style will become available for purchase this spring, with less than 450 vehicles being produced for model year 2022. The styling option will be available for Volvo’s plug-in hybrid S60 Recharge, along with the mild-hybrid S60 Momentum and R-Design trims. A new lawsuit has been filed against Tesla for racial discrimination and overlooking safety within its factories. The suit was raised by former factory manager Marc Cage, who claims that Tesla risked massive explosions at its Nevada plant due to serious safety violations. He also says that the company failed to report and disclose serious on-the-job injuries. “Tesla’s commitments to unrealistic production goals and frantic efforts to ramp up its production, often to make good on rash promises, overrode any commitment to employee safety,” the filing reads. Ford has just unveiled the 2023 update for the Ranger Raptor. Now carrying a series of exterior revamps that bring the pickup closer in line with the automaker’s F-150 model, the new Ranger Raptor also packs decent power under its hood, as well as a whole series of performance enhancements that allow it to tackle off-road terrains. Available in either petrol or diesel models, the former will feature a twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine pushing out 392 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, while the latter will carry a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine, although it’ll only be available in select markets.
