American materials scientist Anthony Diamond developed the Cybercat accessory that sees the all-electric vehicle outrigged with a pair of attachable pontoons and outboard motors. STILRIDE, a Swedish start-up founded in 2019, is pioneering “industrial origami,” a sustainable method of manufacturing electric scooters and motorcycles using upcycled scraps of steel. Founders Tue Beijer and Jonas Nyvang envision STILRIDE as a sustainable manufacturer of high-performing electric bikes using scraps of recyclable steel. Nyvang adapted early sketches of the SUS1 e-scooter using paper origami as a visual mock-up of the current model. In a similar fashion, STILRIDE uses robotic arms to contort and twist sheets of steel into curved folds, molding the chassis of its e-bike from scrapped recyclables. Tesla is now recalling yet another 578,000 vehicles over concerns with its Boombox feature. According to Reuters, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found that the company’s Boombox feature, which allows drivers to play music and sounds through an external speaker system, has the potential to overpower the required sounds from its Pedestrian Warning System, a federal safety regulation that requires an EV to make clearly audible sound when it’s traveling at speeds below 18.6 mph. 2020-2022 Model X, Y, and S vehicles as well as 2017-2022 Model 3 cars are affected by the recall, and Tesla will now be issuing an OTA update to disable Boombox when the vehicles are in Drive, Neutral or Reverse. British motorcycle company Triumph has tapped into Formula 1 team Williams‘ sister Advanced Engineering division to co-develop its new TE-1 electric bike. While the vehicle won’t directly be a production model fans can purchase, the TE-1 marks the company’s venture into lightweight electric powertrains in order to develop more powerful and sustainable motorcycles in the future. Williams has managed to equip the bike with a 15 kWh battery that pushes a peak output of 170 kW, equivalent to roughly 228 horsepower, with a continuous output of 130 kW, or around 174 horsepower. After much anticipation, Alfa Romeo has finally unveiled the automaker’s first-ever crossover, and it’s also got its own NFT. Named the Tonale, the new vehicle comes with two different engine options: a greener plug-in hybrid model and a fully gas-powered option, but both all-wheel drives.
