Lamborghini Announces Four New Models For 2022

Lamborghini has announced plans to release four new cars this year, including two new versions of both the Huracán and the Urus SUV. According to CAR’s interview with Automobili Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann, the upcoming 2022 vehicles will be the last production cars from the automaker to be fully powered by internal combustion engines. While no exact specifics have been revealed, one of the Huracáns is expected to be a rally-inspired model based on the V-10-powered 2019 Sterrato concept pictured above, while the second is said to be a new high-performance variant of the STO. The Urus will also receive its first-ever update, promising new facelifts and performance upgrades. Looking forward, 2023 will see Lamborghini ramp up its electrification plans with the successor of the Av...

The Fast, Furious, and Forgotten Era of Modified Cars

The U.K’s ‘lad mag’ culture meant that teenagers in the early 2000s had access to a startlingly adult education. From the top shelf of corner stores loomed titles like Nuts, Zoo, Loaded, and Max Power, which combined rudimentary soft pornography with a fetishized idea of young masculinity: one that centered around the twin pillars of topless girls and modified cars. At their height, these publications were a cornerstone of British adolescence. The glossy pages were hidden from conservative parents, and instead were ogled over between friends in the back of someone’s first car – one which was complete with go-faster stripes and an oversized exhaust, in an eager, if misdirected, attempt to impress girls. They both documented and inspired a short-lived, but vastly influential subculture of yo...

This Ford Bronco Pope Francis Center First Edition Will Raise Money to Fight Homelessness

Back in 1979, Pope John Paul II visited the United States, and accompanying the Pope on his tour was a customized open-air Ford Bronco. Now, a one-of-a-kind 2021 Ford Bronco Pope Francis Center First Edition has been created and will be subsequently sold at Barrett-Jackson auctions in aid to raise money for Detroit’s Pope Francis Center, helping it fight against homelessness. Based on a standard four-door Bronco, this edition draws visual cues from the original 1966 iteration and hence features a “Wimbledon White” paint job alongside heritage-inspired wheels from Detroit Steel Wheels (steelies if you will). A contrasting black roof section sits high, while lower down you’ll find red stripes along the side skirts, “First Edition” badges on the fenders, red-pain...

PistonHeads Lists Rare Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI RSX

A rare Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 RSX is up for sale over at PistonHeads. The 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 RSX is just one of 30 ever built by Ralliart UK — only 10 were painted the Satellite Silver color — and was first owned by a lawyer in Hong Kong where it was kept in pristine condition for 14 years. The legendary RSX Evo VI saw upgrades from its standard counterpart in the form of the removal of ABS, plated differentials, a faster steering rack, titanium turbo impellers, Recaro SR seats, and 30 extra spot welds on the body shell. Together, the RSX shed around 180 pounds. With the help of Ralliart/Extreme, this Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 RSX went through a tune that saw performance enhancements by way of a Ralliart three-point strut brace, AP six-pot brake calipers, Proflex suspe...

Ford Unveils the Hardcore 400 HP Bronco Raptor Off-Roader

Fans of offroading are spoilt for choice — you could have the Jeep Gladiator, a Mercedes-AMG G63, Land Rover’s new Defender, and now, Ford‘s brand-new Bronco Raptor. Zacoe’s Widebodied Toyota GR Supra A90 Says Go Big or Go Home

Japanese cars and tuning companies go hand-in-hand, so it’s no surprise that Zacoe — known for its reworkings of Lamborghinis, McLarens, and Porsches — has put its hand to the latest-generation Toyota GR Supra (A90). While recognizable, the Supra has been given a reworking front-to-back. Starting at the front, you’ll find a new bumper that’s adorned with a carbon fiber splitter and flared air intakes, before arching up towards the full carbon fiber bonnet. Air intakes on the fender and deep bulges accentuate the aggressive hood, while exaggerated side skirts are also trimmed in carbon and curve towards the rear where you’ll find flared wheel arches housing a set of satin gold rims that beautifully contrast the matte army green paint. At the rear, Zacoe a...

For BMW, the Future of Automotive Goes Beyond Electrification

There’s a misconception that electric cars are reserved for fintech bros driving Teslas in Silicon Valley, or that people who own a Nissan Leaf eat only what they drive. It’s an industry clouded in conspiracy theories, often driven by ideologies about oil companies stopping the progression of electrification (Who Killed the Electric Car?, for instance, looks into this further); however, there are plenty of other reasonable justifications as for why the electric vehicle (EV) industry is yet to boom like we thought it would have, taking our 2012 pipedreams into consideration. For Kai Langer, Head of BMW i design and a cognoscente of the electrified automotive world, the global infrastructure needs to evolve before EVs can truly take over. “Infrastructure has to change dramatically, but then,...

Hoonigan has now unveiled its latest vehicle for the upcoming Gymkhana: the 1983 Subaru GL Wagon. Unveiled in a new video over on its YouTube channel (which you can check out down below), driver Travis Pastrana introduces the latest car to join Gymkhana 2022, showing off a beautifully-liveried 1983 Subaru GL Wagon fully kitted out for the job ahead. While not much about its specific specs and tuning were provided, Pastrana says it pushes out roughly 900 horsepower, which is a whopping 10 times more than the wagon’s original model back in 1982. The driver also says that its boxy exterior will give him more control when jumping in the air and provide a better peripheral view around him as well when navigating through obstacle courses. Not much else is known about Gymkhana this year at ...
