Manthey-Racing Equips the Porsche 911 GT3 With a Hardcore Aero Kit

Following on from its take on the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 and Porsche‘s archive-inspired 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 comes Manthey-Racing‘s latest effort, presenting its version of the Porsche 911 GT3. Putting the focus on the aerodynamics, suspension, brakes and wheels, Manthey elevates the GT3 to make it perform on an entirely new level, going to show that you don’t need to add more power to make a car drive better. By tweaking the car after numerous laps on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, Manthey was able to cut 17 seconds off from the car’s predecessor — which in racing language, is a lifetime. Upgrades and adjustments include a four-way adjustable suspension kit, a brake upgrade kit, and a new set of rims with the rear wheels being fitted with aero discs —...

Nissan’s Bluebird Restomod Is an Electric Dream

Nissan U.K. is celebrating 35 years of production at its Sunderland plant with an electrified restomod based on the Bluebird — the first car to roll out of the factory in 1986 — dubbed the “Newbird.” Driven purely by electricity using the same powertrain from the Nissan LEAF, the Newbird features 40kWh batteries and a custom suspension, as well as a host of contemporary updates, to bring the Bluebird into the 21st century. In many ways, this is similar to Hyundai’s Grandeur Heritage Series restomod which also celebrated the car’s 35th birthday. For Nissan, it’s also an exercise in showing what the marque is capable of. As such, the Newbird delivers 130 miles of range and a 0-62 MPH time in under 15 seconds, while styling is quintessentially ’...

Mansory Gives the McLaren 720S a Stealth Black Rework

The McLaren 720S is a formidable British supercar on both the road and the track, offering lightspeed levels of performance and looks to match. However, for some that’s never enough, which is why Mansory presents you with its latest offering. Every inch of the 720S has been reworked inside-and-out, presenting a new front apron and hood with deeper vents, a reworked carbon fiber side skirt panel — with more forged carbon hitting up the wing mirrors and canards — and finally, a heavily revised rear end that’s centered around a new diffuser, four Mansory-tuned exhaust pipes, and a re-engineered active aero wing. Like the First Edition model it previously released, the 720S now sits on a set of “Yavin” rims that are made from a one-piece, ultra-light constru...

David Beckham’s Maserati MC20 Is a Custom Masterpiece

“I have always been a car enthusiast,” says David Beckham upon the announcement and unveiling of his custom Maserati MC20 Fuoriserie Edition. As the brand’s ambassador, Beckham is no stranger to Maserati, but as the marque enters a new era he has been invited to design his own version of the hotly-anticipated Italian supercar, and naturally, it pays homage to everything he is: football. The union results in an MC20 treated by Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization program, allowing clients such as Beckham to alter the car’s appearance inside and out. This tailor-made example is finished in black, but there’s a lot more to the design than just a blacked-out supercar. For example, the bodywork’s glossy black tone is contrasted by opaque black Trident lo...

Here’s to the Dreamers: Porsche Looks Back on 20 Years in Asia-Pacific

Behind the wheel of every Porsche is somebody who has dreamed big — and after two decades operating in Asia-Pacific, the luxury automotive marque salutes the dreamers. To celebrate its 20th anniversary in the region, Porsche is releasing a new short film titled The Dreams that Drive Us — dedicated to those who follow their dreams, despite the challenges, to manifest these visions into reality. A Story of Perseverance When Porsche formally established operations in Asia-Pacific in 2001, the region was still reeling from the aftershocks of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. But it’s these times of chaos that also breed opportunity — fertile ground for dreamers to disrupt the established order. Singapore’s explosive growth following this period is a textbook exampl...

Ford Teases Its GT Alan Mann Heritage Edition

Continuing to expand on its Heritage Edition series, Ford has now created a version of its iconic GT in a special livery paying tribute to its fruitful partnership with Alan Mann Racing in the ’60s. Depicted in two new teaser images over on Twitter, the upcoming release dons the legendary racing team’s favorite colors of red, white and gold, inspired by the experimental GT40 racers the two companies built together back in 1966 that would go on to help the American automaker win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the time, Ford ordered five of the cars to be made but only two had ever come out of production, and while they were never chosen to enter into the race itself, the cars’ light alloy body panels and design philosophy contributed to much of Ford’s later success. Che...

Six More Women Come Forward to Join Workplace Sexual Harassment Case Against Tesla

Six more women have now come forward and joined the ongoing sexual harassment lawsuit against Elon Musk‘s electric car company Tesla. The lawsuit was initially filed by a production associate at the automaker’s Fremont plant named Jessica Barraza, who claimed that she was subject to “nightmarish” working conditions at the factory, which resembled “a crude, archaic construction site or frat house.” In one scenario, Barraza claims that a supervisor refused to act when she told him a co-worker had been staring at her breasts, instead of saying “Maybe you shouldn’t wear shirts that draw attention to your chest.” She was wearing a work shirt provided by the company at the time. After her legal proceedings against Tesla became publicized, six...
