Citroën to Launch Its Electric AMI City Car in the U.K.

Back in May, the French automotive company Citroën entered and simultaneously changed the electric city car market with the launch of its AMI electric car. Now, the AMI is heading to the U.K. The AMI is a small two-seater EV that’s perfect for city commutes as it comes with a range of 46 miles and a top speed of 28 MPH, powered by a 5.5kWh battery that can recharge in just three hours. It is completely emissions-free, meaning it complies with central London’s congestion and ultra-low emissions zone (ULEZ) charges, meaning you won’t have to pay any fees to drive it around town. However, driving it around town might actually throw up a few challenges. While adaptors and plug sockets will be converted to U.K. specifications, the AMI will remain left-hand-drive, as opposed to...

TECHART Boosts the Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet to 800 HP

The 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S is a formidable opponent in the supercar world, exercising some of the best technology and expertise the German marque has to offer, but for the tuning company TECHART this is simply not enough. Following on from 911 Turbo it overhauled back in June, the tuning brand is back with its take on the 911 Turbo S Cabriolet, dubbed the GTstreet R Cabriolet. Like its predecessor, the cabriolet iteration features a heavily revised body kit that’s been enhanced with carbon fiber aerodynamic parts that reduce weight and increase the downforce. Reworking the front apron, carbon fiber aero hood, lightweight fenders in conjunction with wheel arch extensions, side skirts, rear apron, and the carbon rear wing, TECHART adds its stamp all over the 911, while a ne...

Debuting on February 18, 2022, the Tundra TRD Pro will serve as Toyota’s latest attempt to snag another title win, adding to its eight driver championship and 11 manufacturer’s championship first place trophies. L’Art de L’automobile Unveils Its Porsche 968 L’ART Car

There’s no hiding from Arthur Kar‘s love for Porsche, as his automotive house and fashion platform L’Art de L’automobile often sells rare Porsche models and puts the spotlight on them in collections or interviews. Now, L’Art de L’automobile follows up on its previously-teased collaboration with the brand with the unveiling of its physical partnership, showcasing the one-off Porsche 968 L’ART car. The 968 was an ’80s baby, marking the final iteration of a water-cooled front-engined, rear-drive Porsche for the masses. Powered by a three-liter four-cylinder engine, it was pipped to be a grand tourer as opposed to the 911‘s raw sportscar feeling, but now, L’Art de L’automobile has completely flipped the switch with its custom it...

The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Is the World’s Fastest Street-Legal SUV

Brabus is back with yet another frankly outrageous car: the Brabus 900 Rocket Edition Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, otherwise known as the fastest street-legal SUV in the world. In standard form, the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S is still an incredibly fast SUV. But as per usual, this wasn’t enough for Brabus, which has tuned the twin-turbo V8 to produce 900 HP and a peak of 922 lb-ft of torque, with the latter actually being limited to 774 lb-ft. This comes as a result of building the car out to a displacement of 4.5 liters and by introducing a new high-performance forced induction system, which comes together to launch the car to 62 MPH in just 3.2 seconds and send it all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 205 MPH — meaning that, technically speaking, it could be more powerfu...

Toyota CEO Warns Full Transition to Electric Vehicles Could Leave Millions of Japanese Workers Out of Jobs

Toyota‘s CEO Akio Toyoda is concerned that the radical transition to electric vehicles for the company will cost millions of Japanese workers to lose their jobs in automotive. Toyoda’s qualm with the Japanese government’s pursuit towards carbon neutrality is that it could negatively impact the company’s manufacturing industry. He explains that since Japan is a heavily “export-reliant country…carbon neutrality is tantamount to an issue of employment for Japan.” While the CEO understands that politicians are seeing a full shift to EVs as a major component of this goal, Toyoda said, “To protect the jobs and lives of Japanese people, I think it is necessary to bring our future in line with our efforts so far.” Auto News reported that Japan ...

Mansory’s Take on the Rolls-Royce Dawn “Silver Bullet” Is Actually Rather Subtle

Mansory is anything but subtle — just take a look at Drake’s custom Rolls-Royce Cullinan with Chrome Hearts accents if you need reminding — but now, the tuning house has announced something a little bit more… subdued. Introducing the Mansory Rolls-Royce Dawn “Silver Bullet,” a limited to 50 development that falls under the tuning arm’s “Soft Kit” division. The new “Soft Kit” adds pieces to the bodywork itself, rather than seeing Mansory’s usual treatment that often replaces OEM body parts. There’s also no further enhancement to the interior, but being a Rolls-Royce as standard this is no bad thing, as it’s already an incredibly lush place to sit. Mansory does offer a new set of rims measuring 22″ fron...

Liberty Walk Transforms the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 With Wide Bodykit

Back in June, the Japanese automotive company Toyota unveiled its all-new Land Cruiser 300 — including a GR Sport version that marked the first change in the SUV in 14 years — and now the tuning company Liberty Walk has gotten its hands all over the car. As noted in HYPEBEAST’s previous coverage of the car, the Land Cruiser 300 no longer comes with the customary V8, instead packing a twin-turbo V6 that produces 409 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. Liberty Walk doesn’t fettle with the engine, but it has given it a very commanding body kit overhaul, teaming up with Sphere Light — a Japanese car lighting company — to create its masterpiece. At the front, we find an extended fascia alongside Liberty Walk branding on the grille and new daytime running lights, whil...

U.S. Safety Official Calls on Tesla To Fix ‘Basic Safety Issues’ Before Expanding its Full Self-Driving Mode

A top U.S. safety official is urging Tesla to address its “basic safety issues” before it expands its plans to introduce the much-discussed Full-Self Driving mode. CEO Elon Musk has been promising to release Full Self-Driving software upgrades for several years, though at present, the electric car company does not offer a completely autonomous driving experience. Instead, Tesla offers what it calls Autopilot, which comes standard on its new cars and allows drivers to accelerate, brake, and steer automatically. The company says that the current Autopilot feature still requires “active supervision” from the driver. Tesla says the Full Self-Driving package is designed to allow for short and long-distance trips “with no action required by the person in the driver’s seat.” This incl...
