Rick Ross Shows Off Massive Car Collection, Despite Not Having a Driver’s License

Rick Ross has recently unveiled his 100-plus collection of different luxury car models, however, the catch for the rapper is that he does not have a license to drive any of his autos. The hip-hop artist took to Instagram Stories and asked himself, “Who own a hundred cars and don’t have a driver’s license?” In the video, Ross is seen shaking his head seemingly in disapproval of himself before sharing, “More importantly, I’m filling out every day for my driver’s license and they ask me, ‘Are you an organ donor? I said, ‘Damn, if something was to happen to me and saw how good my heart was.’ Don’t let me die just to take my good heart.” For the longest time, Ross was a known luxury car collector. Earlier this summer, the rap mogul took to social media to fle...

Tesla Delays Semi Truck Release to 2022

Tesla has officially announced that it is once again pushing back the arrival of its Tesla Semi truck to 2022. The new date is now three years after its initial launch target of 2019. Last year, Tesla had already announced that it would have to delay the release to 2021 but was not clear on the reason. Many assumed that it was because of the pandemic. TechCrunch recently reported that Elon Musk‘s company told shareholders that the Semi truck is now delayed due to an issue with battery availability in global supply chain challenges. The statement reads, “We believe we remain on track to build our first Model Y vehicles in Berlin and Austin in 2021. The pace of the respective production ramps will be influenced by the successful introduction of many new product and manufacturing ...

DRIVERS: Wilson Tang and His 1996 Porsche 911 Targa 993

DRIVERS is a series highlighting influential individuals in the HYPEBEAST sphere and their passion towards all things automotive. The approach is simple: what is car culture to you, and why do you have a passion for it? Each contributor is given a chance to shine light on their personal vehicle or vehicles, and asked to remark on how they are driving culture forward, both metaphorically and literally. For our latest edition of DRIVERS, we’re crossing into a new cultural divide, sinking our teeth into the world of food. If there was ever a time-honored restauranteur to feature with a car that equally speaks volumes, it’s NYC’s very own Wilson Tang and his Porsche 911. Wilson is the owner and purveyor of Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Chinatown’s oldest restaurant that’s s...

An Early Look at the 2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT

During an exclusive preview in California, HYPEBEAST was able to get its hands on an early Euro market Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, which was only just announced back in the beginning of July. To call it Porsche’s fastest SUV is an understatement, as the Turbo GT is another level of performance never before seen for the Cayenne platform. For Porsches, the “GT” naming is not to be taken lightly. Previously, the abbreviation was given to its highest performing 911s, in the form of the GT3, GT2, and their respective RS variations. Afterwards, the GT name was also bestowed upon the Cayman model in the form of the GT4, and eventually also became a trim option for multiple cars as a GTS. While customers may argue this is diluting the name a bit, for drivers and owners, the GT name...

Legende Automobiles Builds Epic Renault 5 Turbo 2 Restomod

The Renault 5 Turbo 2 was one of the dominating hot hatchbacks of the 1980s, and to this day it remains an incredibly sought-after machine — and the same can also be said for the original 5 Turbo. But what if you wanted a T2 that had no limits, was the finest of its kind, and included some modern conveniences? Well, welcome to the Legende Automobiles Turbo 3, a restomod based on the Renault 5 Turbo 2 that’s been overhauled inside-and-out. Speaking on the car, the L.A.-based automotive company says, “In a world that has become increasingly more digital, we were yearning for a time machine that could transport us back to the analogue ’80s.” It adds, “What if there were no compromises? What if we took the best bits of both cars and used technology only to i...

The Mercedez-Benz G-Wagon Is Going Electric

Back in 2019, the head of Mercedes Ola Källenius announced a commitment for a zero-emissions version of the G-Class line. Those promises have now materialized as parent Daimler AG files paperwork for the names “EQG580” and “EQG560”. A hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz luxury SUV will arrive first in the winter of 2022, followed by fully electric models in 2024 under the Mercedes-EQ brand. The EQG-Wagons are expected to be revealed as concept cars at the IAA Mobility 2021 motor show in Munich this September. Hybrid production models are expected to go on sale with an estimated starting price slightly above the $132,800 USD G550, while the EQ560 and EQG580 models should be closer to the $157,500 USD starting price of the AMG G63. Prior to the introduction of the EQG...

Apocalypse Has Converted the RAM 1500 TRX Into a $250,000 USD 6×6 Beast

The RAM 1500 TRX is no doubt a beast of a pickup truck in itself, but Florida’s Apocalypse has now dialed things all the way up to 11 with its own 6×6 modification of the vehicle. Aptly dubbed the “Warlord,” the six-wheeler has been impeccably built to retain most of the truck’s stock aesthetics — so much so that it actually looks like it was created by RAM itself. With an extra axle subtly hidden underneath the truck bed, the car now pushes out all 700 horsepower from its supercharged Hellcat engine through all six of its wheels, giving you all the grip you’d ever imagine needing. Just to top things off, Apocalypse is also offering a list of adventurous add-ons including LED lights, larger 40-inch tires, and even thermal night vision. While the Warlord i...

This Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Strassenversion Could Sell for $10 Million USD

The ultimate Mercedes-Benz road car is officially up for auction. The 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Strassenversion is arguably one of the most extreme racing cars ever conceived by the auto house. With only 25 of these cars ever produced by AMG, the road car was built in compliance with the FIA GT1 class rules. The GT1 class spawned some of the industry’s most extreme sports cars including the Porsche 911 GT1 and McLaren F1. The 1998 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR Strassenversion featured a mid-mounted 6.9-liter V12 which is based on the M120 engine used in other Mercedes road cars during that time. The V12 engine produces 604 horsepower and features a paddle-shifted 6-speed Xtrac sequential transaxle. Although the GTR was built using a similar architecture as other racing cars, the eng...

Ford Quietly Trademarks the “Skyline” Name for the U.S. Market

It’s a sad day for automotive fans who dreamt of a day they would see the Nissan Skyline name revived for the U.S. market. As of July 12, Ford has the trademark rights to the “Skyline” name under the category of “Motor and land vehicles, namely, SUVs, trucks, and automobiles.” Autoblog speculates that they could either be releasing a new model or are just straight up camping on the name. The name has beginnings as early as the ’60 and is closely associated with Nissan’s iconic lineage of GT-R sports cars. As of now, it shouldn’t be a problem for Nissan as the automotive manufacturer operates under the Infiniti name in the States with Nissan’s current Japanese Skyline sold as the Infiniti Q50. In other automotive news, this stock Toyota ...

This Is the Final Bugatti Divo

Bugatti is done with the Divo as the final model has been produced for one very lucky Chiron-owning customer in Europe. The Divo is a limited-to-40-run coachbuilt hypercar based on the Chiron and was only available to those who bought the Chiron. With a base price of almost $5.9m USD, the Divo was Bugatti’s most expensive car on offer in 2018, but of course most of the coachbuilt cars were completely customized and personalized to the customer’s taste meaning the final price is likely to be much more than the base cost. This particular example — number 40 of 40 — is a nod to the marque’s history. Finished in “Bugatti EB 110 LM Blue” with blue carbon fiber components, the Divo pays homage to Bugatti’s last official Le Mans factory race car and also ...

Mercedes To Spend $47 Billion USD in Transition to Fully Electric Lineup by 2030

Following in the footsteps of Jaguar, Bentley, Maserati, and even GM, Mercedes has now announced its plans to go fully electric by 2030. Revealing its new direction on Thursday, the company says that it’ll offer BEV versions of all its models across every segment by 2022, and by 2025 all of its brand new architectures will be electric only. To facilitate the transition, Mercedes will be spending a staggering €40 billion EUR (approx. $47 billion USD) between 2022 and 2030 to reach its fully electric targets. The money will allow Mercedes to build eight gigafactories in the near future in order to facilitate its growth into the EV market, and also provide the budget to release three new architectures based around electric cars: the AMG.EA for AMG enthusiasts, the MB.EA for general pass...
