Back in May, the Niels van Roij and Jan-Pieter Kroezen-co-helmed automotive design company Heritage Customs unveiled the “Valiance” — its rusted-out take on the new Land Rover Defender — and now it returns with a one-off, hand-built custom version designed exclusively for the Dutch presenter and actor Winston Gerschtanowitz. Based on the Defender 110 P400e (simply put, the five-door iteration with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 105kW electric motor), the car is good for 398 HP and 472 lb-ft of torque, resulting in a 0-60 MPH time of 5.6 seconds. The Tesla Cybertruck may not be out until 2022, but prospective buyers are already investing in accessories for the electric pickup truck, including a $50,000 USD attachable compact camper developed by software and artificial intelligence company Stream It. The 1,200 lb (544 kg) CyberLandr transforms the Cybertruck into what’s essentially a sleek, high-tech RV and according to Business Insider, it’s already hit $80 million USD in pre-orders since its debut in April. Luxury American automotive company Lincoln knows how to pull off a concept car, and now it has unveiled the “Anniversary,” penned by the ArtCenter College of Design and revealed as part of Monterey Car Week‘s The Quail Motorsports Gathering. The car you see above is a real-life, full-sized take on one of the drawings submitted by the students of California’s ArtCenter College of Design, who were tasked with envisioning the Lincoln of the future. A patent filed in relation to the Tesla Cybertruck has indicated that the highly-anticipated electric vehicle will feature some futuristic and durable windows that are bent in shape. Filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on August 12, the patent covers windows with “curves and feature lines” and the means of manufacturing them, which Tesla describes as applying heat to the glass via a laser and bending the glass at that location. Additional layers of glass could potentially then be stacked to form a “curved multi-layer glass structure.” The method allows for bending at an aggressive curvature with a radius between 2mm and 5cm that traditional methods can not offer. In 1975, Philadelphia-born artist Alexander Calder laid the foundations for BMW‘s Art Car series with his take on the iconic 3.0 CSL (aka “The Batmobile”), and despite it being one of the most legendary pieces of automotive art in the world, Calder never got to have the car for himself in its final form as he passed in 1976. Today, Calder Foundation and BMW have announced an Artist’s Proof iteration of the aforementioned Art Car, noting that it’s not a “replica, clone, copy, reproduction, facsimile, or 1:1 of the 1975 Calder BMW Art Car. Nissan‘s NISMO division doesn’t just rework cars like the GT-R and the 370Z, it also gets its hands dirty with daily drivers such as Note Aura. This new Note Aura NISMO is exclusive to Japan and draws from the Formula-E-inspired design concept while incorporating the NISMO spirit. With this in mind, the electrified car (which uses a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that powers two electric motors driving the front wheels) produces 134 HP and 221 lb-ft of torque, which while they may not be hot hatch figures, are still impressive for a small hybrid.
