From their chic trademark fringes to their classic wardrobe basics, there’s an undeniable allure about the beauty and style choices of French women. For me, though, there’s one specific area that I feel they’ve consistently excelled in more than most: skincare. Yes, French girls have seriously amazing skin and it’s down to the array of hard-working skincare brands that they have access to. Over the years, I’ve lost count of the number of industry-approved makeup removers and celebrity-beloved face oils that have been exported from France. Trust me—if it’s cult skincare products that you’re looking for, then French pharmacy brands are the best place to start. Luckily, many of these historic bran...
I don’t know about you, but over the last 6 months, my wardrobe has experienced a serious case of Groundhog Day. Jumpers, joggers, slippers, jumpers, joggers, slippers… The repetitiveness of my outfits has become quite an apt metaphor for the monotony of lockdown. Needless to say, I think we’re all craving a little variety in our lives right about now, and if nothing else, the changing of the seasons will offer just that. While we still don’t know when “normality” will resume, we can still rely on the longer days and warmer temperatures to mix things up in the fashion department. If you’ve been following the weather forecast as closely as I have (I mean there’s nothing else to do, right?), you’ll know that warmer days are on th...
See all 7 photos The new tech is available exclusively in Japan for the moment, but a form of this new system will arrive on U.S.-market, all-wheel-drive Lexus LS sedans this fall under the “Lexus Teammate” label. Here, Teammate-equipped LSs will feature an advanced form of lane keep assist, along with hands-off acceleration, braking, and steering in the right conditions. Depending on what settings inputs from the driver, the LS will follow the vehicle ahead in the lane, navigate interchanges, traffic jams, and change lanes. There are little functions built-in aimed at increasing trust and comfort of the driver, like moving the car slightly to the outside of a lane when bordered by a passing semi-truck, or consideration for merging vehicles. Toyota is quick to express that this...
Genesis is making headlines recently. From the unfortunate crash that Tiger Woods suffered in a GV80 to the new GV70 compact crossover and X coupe concept, the Korean luxury brand seemingly can’t avoid the spotlight. And there’s more coming, too. Rumor has it that an electric GV70 is right around the corner (likely dubbed eGV70). There’s also the possibility of a performance-oriented model joining the lineup in the future. We had a chance to talk with Ricky Lao, the brand’s new product planning director, who gave us some details about the upcoming 2022 GV70 and hinted at where the brand might expand in the future. A Performance-Oriented Genesis? With Hyundai’s N division doing wonders across its lineup, and with competitors of Genesis continuing to p...
Ambrose, who styled over 200 music videos, was Missy’s right-hand woman, costume designing for every major Missy Elliott production including “Get Ur Freak On,” “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “One Minute Man,” and “Lose Control.” She was a go-to designer for R&B/hip-hop heavyweights including Diddy, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey, and currently works as a creative director for Puma. “We didn’t have a point of reference that came before us,” explains Ambrose. “We took the risk for the future.” The “Rain” designer discussed the role of late ’90s to early ’00s designers as trailblazers, bursting through barriers between high-end labels and R&B/hip-hop culture. “I bridg...
Kelly Rowland also attended the Baby2Baby & Amazon event, where she handed out school supplies & toys to children. Justin Bieber performed at a downtown LA elementary school on Thursday during Baby2Baby and Amazon’s welcome-back event, which Kelly Rowland also attended. Bieber performed “Intentions,” “Holy” and more singles from his Billboard 200 No. 1 albums Changes and Justice in front of the young students of MacArthur Park Visual and Performing Arts Elementary. Rowland, who’s a board member and ambassador of Baby2Baby, a charity that provides children living in poverty with all the basic necessities, shared pictures from the event where she handed out school supplies and toys to children alongside Baby2Baby’s CE...
When it comes to styling ideas, it can be easy to focus on the new and exciting outfit ideas, however sometimes you simply can’t beat a classic. One of the most timeless outfits that is popular every single spring is a blazer, jeans and T-shirt. It’s a trio that Princess Diana made her uniform, as she was often spotted in Kensington in a double breasted navy blazer, T-shirt and straight-leg jeans. It’s an outfit that hasn’t dated decades later, and is still a popular choice particularly in spring. Although it’s a simple look to master—you only need to pair any blazer, jeans and T-shirt together—you can play with proportions and silhouettes to have a different take on the classic. Recently blazers have returned to a more 80s and 90s form, with strong shou...
Here in Britain, we’re fortunate to have one of the most eclectic fashion scenes out there. From punk to polish, Dr. Martens to twinsets, so broad is the term “British style” it’s difficult for even us to pinpoint. But that’s what we love about it. After all, fashion is one of the most readily available forms of self-expression, and we don’t think anyone should be limited to one aesthetic. Still, some pieces feel undeniably British—staples that can be found in just about every Brit wardrobe, whatever the other items hanging alongside them may look like. Assemble them, and what do you get? Twelve absolutely British fashion essentials, all of which can be worn in a multitude of ways. Scroll below to see how some of our favourite UK-based influencers style ...
From Katie Holmes’s dedication to anti-skinny jeans through to Holly Willoughby’s extensive dress collection, there are still a handful of key celebrities we look to these days for direct style advice despite the fact that the influencer world provides us with plenty of inspiration. Some A-listers’ wardrobes are too stage-ready to feel relatable to real life (during lockdown or otherwise) while others deliver the kind of casual, off-duty ensembles we can actually note down for future styling reference or use to catalogue which designer items are worth investing in. After all, these are people with no shortage of luxury items being passed their way, so what they choose to actually share and wear is of some significance. As the new season is now in full...
Before this double-ended wand of brilliance came my way, Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (£24) had been my go-to for years. In fact, I have been so attached to that concealer that I haven’t really felt a need to try anything different. However, in recent months (thanks to cold weather and actually leaving the house), I have noticed that my skin is turning a little drier and have been in the market for something a teensy bit creamier. On top of that, my breakouts and scarring have gotten out of control, leaving me with red blotches all over my chin. And while I have always loved my pot of Nars, the super-matte formula hasn’t been doing me any favours. In my quest to find a new concealer for the season ahead, I stumbled across the new Secret Camouflage Duo from Laura Mercier. I had h...
We’ve been told that our cars must change, that they pollute and maim … and this can no longer be; Congress and DOT have decreed it. Some believe that this is only a phase we’re going through, that it, like all things, must pass. In our hearts, though, we know that it’s true and it really will happen. Still, those of us who love cars hope and work toward the end that there will somehow remain some trace of the excitement that we cherish in the breed of antiseptic transport modules that is to follow—vehicles conceived without emotion like test-tube babies in sterile laboratories. The Safety Cars are coming; we’ve already seen their ESV vanguard. Padding, periscopes, and airbags: the wave of the Future. “The present-day concept of the automobile is outmode...
Ford CEO Jim Farley was a champion of the idea of creating sub-brands around iconic Blue Oval nameplates, starting with Mustang and Bronco. With those models’ early success seeing their names spread beyond their core original Mustang and Bronco models, Farley thinks there is room to expand the concept to more nameplates. “We have so much opportunity,” Farley tells MotorTrend in an interview. “We have such a plethora of ideas and passion brands in the company. So many in Europe and in the U.S. We run deep. So, I don’t think we’re going to stop there.” The sub-brand idea goes back to the naming of Ford’s first performance all-electric, battery-powered SUV, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The move rankled some purists who felt that all the Mu...
