I Try Tonnes of New Launches, But This £10 Mascara Is Set to Make History

All over my feed, videos showcased dramatic lash results. Before and afters clearly showed that this mascara meant business. People’s lashes looked almost impossibly long, show-stoppingly bold and dramatically full. So much so, that even I could understand why this £10 mascara was causing such a stir. In all of my years testing and trialling every makeup product that hits the shelves, I had never witnessed IRL results quite like it. But the truth is, to me, the super-full lashes I saw plastered all over the internet still looked heavy. Sure, in comparison to other formulas, the results weren’t quite as clumpy. But did it make lashes seem natural? Absolutely not.  Ever the curious beauty journalist, I still wanted to try it for myself and deliver a totally honest review (without any ma...

Ford Cuts F-150 Production Due to Semiconductor Chip Shortage

Ford is forced to temporarily cut production at two plants in the United States that make the profitable 2021 Ford F-150 full-size pickup because of the global shortage of semiconductor chips. We will be watching to see if General Motors, which is keeping its truck and full-size SUV plants going while cutting production elsewhere to weather a shortage that began impacting the industry late last year, can gain a truck sales lead—even temporarily. Ford’s F-Series has been the best-selling truck in the U.S. for the past 44 years. GM has been able to claim supremacy when it combines sales of the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra, but Chevy alone has not been able to take the crown. Also in the hunt is the Ram 1500. Bragging rights aside, the F-150 pickup truck is Ford’s bread ...

I’m a Beauty Editor, and These Are the Skincare Products I Share With My Mum

And it’s funny really, because as the years have gone by, the tables have started to turn. Now, as I learn more and more about products, I’m the person teaching my mum new things. But while I’m preaching intricacies, such as how often to use retinol and whether hyaluronic acid is worth giving a go (it is), there’s no doubt that my mum has been my biggest skincare influence. If I hadn’t have spent my childhood watching my mum religiously cleanse and moisturise every evening, I probably wouldn’t care very much for skincare at all. From a young age, I assumed that if my mum did it, it must have been important. When the initial fascination developed, everything was rather cliché I’m afraid. I started snooping in her skincare stash and applied it all in one go in front of the mirror. ...

The Coat Trends We Predict Everyone Will Be Wearing This Year

Out of all the fashion staples in our wardrobe, the coat is probably the item that has worked the hardest last year, and something tells us the same will be said for 2021. As we enter a February like no other, the humble coat will be an essential part of our style arsenal for all those local park walks and chilly post office queues (if you know, you know). Luckily, the new season is set to usher in a host of outwear trends that combine both form and function. The elevated puffer is, of course, sticking around and is surely one of the warmest things you can throw on on a freezing February morning, but this year they come in more elevated silhouettes: Think puffer-style trenches and quilted styles. There’s also plenty of fluffy fab...

31 Classic Items Our Editors Will Always Think Are the Best of the Best

In January, we set ourself a task: to write a story about a timeless, classic fashion item for every day of the month. The items could be from the high street or the most exclusive luxury fashion houses, but all had to fit with some criteria. One, they are exceptional quality. Two, they are timeless and will be a worthwhile addition to any wardrobe. Three, all of our editors agree they are the best of the best. We have written about some truly special investment pieces, such as Chanel pumps, Max Mara coats and Cartier watches worn by royalty, diving into the history of the items, the icons that have worn them and how you can buy them today. But we also were keen to show classic items that don’t have a heritage background, such as a blazer from & Other Stories which...

Honestly, This High-Street Homeware Department Has Never Looked Better

Gone are the days when Urban Outfitters’ homeware section was compromised cute Tupperware and eclectic mugs (don’t fret—the ceramic elephant mug still makes an appearance). Now, it’s a bona fide boho interiors haven, with everything from full-on furniture (double beds, anyone?) to exclusive print collaborations with new and exciting artists. Recently, the brand’s Ansel table lamp, inspired by vintage the cult Murano glass mushroom lamp, has blown up on Instagram, and thus pulled me back into Urban Outfitters homeware department. The Ansel lamp might now be sold out (keep an eye, though, as it’s still in stock on the U.S. site and, who knows, may make a reappearance soon), but I’ve found countless other treasures I think are just as special. SoundCloud Announces Inaugural Fortnite Tournament “SoundCloud Player One”

SoundCloud is officially entering the world of esports with a new video game tournament. Dubbed, SoundCloud Player One, the online festivities will see eight artists compete against each other in the digital battlegrounds of Fortnite. The games will be hosted by Rico Nasty and professional esports commentator, MonsterDface. In addition to the in-game action, viewers will be treated to a special halftime performance from Rico Nasty. At the time of writing, it’s not yet known which artists will be featured in the games. Unfortunately, not much is known about the format of the competition as well. Considering each Fortnite game can host up to 100 players, some have questioned how the tournament will keep score with just eight competitors. SoundCloud Player One kicks off o...

Why This Iconic 50-Year-Old Bracelet Is Still as Popular as Ever

When you start delving into the world of the Cartier Love bracelet, you realise it’s surrounded by legend. When originally designed in 1969, it was thought to have been inspired by the chastity belt. To this day, to get it on and off, you have to use a screwdriver. “What modern people want are love symbols that look semipermanent—or at least, require a trick to remove. After all, love symbols should suggest an everlasting quality,” said Cartier’s Aldo Cipullo at the time of its creation. Cartier even created a YouTube tutorial to help the fastening and unfastening process be that little bit easier. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. This Is Still the Print That Everyone Loves in 2021

The downside to tie-dye can be looking like you permanently live at Coachella, so avoid bleached denim, dungarees and rose-tinted glasses. Don’t even think about a tie-dye daisy chain crown, and, if in doubt, go for an ombré effect instead of concentric circles that include every colour on the wheel. Designers such as Proenza Schouler and Elder Statesman have elevated this DIY print, but there are still classic trackies if that’s what you’re looking for.  Keep scrolling for our edit of the best tie-dye buys that are ripe with ’90s nostalgia and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. If You Invest in One Interiors Trend in 2021, Make it This One

As a shopping editor, you know you’re onto a winner when you set out to write an article on an interiors trend and you struggle to find enough products. Strange though that may sound, in my experience it means that the item at hand hasn’t quite hit the mainstream yet, so hopefully you can rest easy in the knowledge that you won’t see it every single one of your friends’ houses (well, when we’re allowed in them anyway). My lesser-known trend this month? Checkerboard. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. It begins with giving you back power. Get to meet Beautiful people, chat and make money in the process. Earn rewards by chatting, sharing phot...

Trust Me, This Hair-Removal Tool Is Way More Effective Than a Razor

But you’ll want to be extra careful when using the device, as Rodney cautions that epilators can be very painful if misused. “Epilators also fail to address ingrown hairs and are not best for sensitive areas. You’ll need to find one that keeps your skin’s health and protection in mind,” she adds. When using the device, Rodney recommends pulling the skin taut before passing the machine over it and avoiding goose bumps. Make sure you’re moving the device in the direction of hair growth, and don’t press too firmly on the skin or pass through quickly, as those two things may cause irritation. As for who can use an epilator, it can work on all skin types, but if you have sensitive skin, you’ll want to be careful. If you have a severe skin conditio...

The world might feel like it’s at a standstill but life, no matter how irregular it may seem right now, goes on. Birthdays continue to roll around and special anniversaries are inevitably on the horizon.
