Founded in Paris in 1847, what once was a small workshop has gone on to become one of the, if not the, most iconic jewellery brands in history. Cartier worked closely with countless sovereigns and royal families worldwide, creating everything from crowns and tiaras to necklaces and earrings. The brand has since become a regular on the red carpet, with celebrities wearing its glittering creations for premieres, awards season, and industry events. However, Cartier isn’t all about ornate pieces. (Though, it does them exceptionally well.) Some of its most recognisable jewellery, particularly the pieces that have become status symbols, have an industrial aesthetic—one of which is the Juste un Clou bangle. The Juste un Clou bracelet is the Cartier Love bracelet’s younger an...
It’s probably safe to say that no one’s hair is in a particularly good way right now. For many, it has been months since they last sat in a salon chair. The luckier ones might have been able to slip an appointment in at some point towards the end of last year but will likely be overdue for some salon care by the time doors reopen. While the likes of split ends, dryness, and breakage might be rearing their ugly heads for basically everyone right now, if you have blonde hair, it’s likely your strands are suffering even more intensely. The truth is that blonde hair requires a lot of extra care and attention to remain healthy, especially if it has been bleached or lightened. If you have blonde hair, you better believe that every time you sit down in the salon chair your st...
When major brands like VB and influencer favourite The Row are picking up on something like this, you know it’s bound to be big. Contemporary brands like Wardrobe.NYC have also worked on the perfect pairs which are already selling out on Matches, and although sometimes it takes a good while for these designer trends to hit the high street, luckily for us, some of our favourites have jumped to it, from M&S to Zara. Last year, when I first saw the trend taking off (and we were still working from offices), I tried on as many pairs of split-hem trousers as I could get my hands on, from denim to legging styles. But as most of us are staying indoors and living in leggings, it would be a good time to republish my findings. Let me tell you, Rosie is re...
See all 4 photos We drove it around the block and were impressed with its tight feel and ride quality. The throttle-body-injected (TBI) 454 definitely makes more torque and accelerates with more aplomb than Project Jake, the in-house, small-block-powered OBS (old body style) 1993 GMC C1500 from our sister publication HOT ROD. Still, an 8:1 compression big-block with peanut-port cylinder heads, a tiny cam, and hard-to-tune, airflow-limited induction and fuel-delivery systems doesn’t compare very favorably with even the standard engines in today’s pickups. Say what you will about taking out the big-block in a 454 SS and replacing it with an LS or (in this case) LT engine, it’s hard to argue with the logic. Lucky told us he and Dax discussed several options on how to build t...
We’ve seen Kia’s new logo, and now we’ve learned a more about the brand’s future plans, including seven all-electric models and three battery-powered concepts by 2027. Kia’s intent is to stake out a leading position in the EV market, and it teased five of those future production models in silhouette. The models will be known as EV1 through EV9, part of a model-name reorganization we’ll touch on in a bit. We don’t know which models get which numbers, so we’ll use Kia’s own descriptions (and please don’t accuse of egregious use of marketing-speak; we’re just parroting here). First up is what Kia calls “a powerful and dynamic crossover”: See all 11 photos A “fun and practical commuter”: See all 11 photos...
Rarely do mid-cycle updates of existing models accomplish so much change as Honda’s 2021 refresh for the Ridgeline midsize pickup. The only unibody, car-based pickup truck on the market, the Ridgeline has long delivered admirable handling, ride comfort, and clever packaging thanks to its lack of a cumbersome separate frame. Thing is, while it’s among the best midsize trucks you can buy, the pre-update Ridgeline resembled a Honda minivan with a pickup bed grafted on. For 2021, the Ridgeline finally adopts tougher, truckier styling. And, as if Honda is trying to drive the point home that it wants customers to take the pickup more seriously, it’s abandoning the Ridgeline’s standard front-wheel-drive configuration. By making all-wheel drive standard across the Ridgeline...
While much of the emphasis at CES 2021 was focused on autonomy (and related sensors), artificial intelligence, and bigger-picture tech, there were still plenty of little gizmos on virtual display promising a brighter driving tomorrow. Gadgets that solve little problems, like why your phone sometimes doesn’t juice up properly in a Qi wireless charger, and how a WiFi camera can help you monitor precious trailer cargo or reverse a long rig into a tight spot, and even how to pay for gas or parking remotely. Here are five hot gizmos from this year’s non-show. See all 6 photos Sweet-Spot Qi Wireless Charger Ever notice how sometimes when you toss your phone onto your car’s Qi wireless charger, it doesn’t always start charging (or maybe it gets hot but charges slowly)? Hands up, who’s lost count of the number of films they’ve watched over the past 10 months? I’d be lying if I said I could even attempt to work it out, such is the amount of time I’ve spent in front of the TV. While puzzles lose their novelty after a while and you can only bake so much sourdough before you realise you could open up your own branch of Greggs, films never stop being fun. But being a fashion journalist, I’ve also spent a long time making a mental note of the outfits that I love the most that have appeared on-screen. Fashion, or rather costume design, in film is vital to making a character stand out. Whether it’s a barely-there green satin dress that’s actually pivotal to a pair of lovers’ story or a pair of Chanel boot...
After nearly a year of social distancing that’s lead to some unexpectedly long and scraggly lengths, the urge to chop all your hair off might be stronger than ever. While this sentiment might normally be met with blank stares and reminders to exercise caution, it just so happens that short hair is majorly trending right now. And not just the ever-popular bob haircut either. Celebrities, fashion girls, and hairstylists agree that all varieties of short hair are in. Rejoice! So what does that mean for your short-hair aspirations in 2021? Good things, we think! From cuts to colours and all sorts of styles, all things short hair are gaining some well-deserved renewed interest. Ahead, check out the short-hair trends set to dominate this year. Here at Who What Wear, we love to support British labels. It’s even better when they’re homegrown and sustainably-minded. Add an affordable price-point into the mix and you have the ultimate fashion triple threat. London-based label, Nobody’s Child is just that. The brand prides itself on its eco-conscious ethos, which includes partnerships with ethical factories and a focus on zero-waste manufacturing. Evidently, we aren’t the only ones who have noticed that Nobody’s Child is a brand on the rise, as celebrities from Fearne Cotton to Holly Willoughby and Candice Brathwaite are also champions of the label. This week, Cotton uploaded an image of herself wearing the brand’s heart print mini shirt dress for an appearance on The One ...
I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m a bit of a Victoria Beckham fangirl. From her iconic Posh Spice beauty looks in the ’90s to the launch of her very own beauty brand, VB is a beauty muse who has, undoubtedly, stood the test of time. So when an email landed in my inbox earlier this week asking if I’d like to try the latest Victoria Beckham Beauty innovation before it launched, I jumped at the chance. Her newest creation? A long-awaited mascara. That’s right. The queen of smoky eyes herself has finally turned her attention to lashes. Hooray! But what sets VB’s mascara apart from the rest of the pack? Keep reading for the full low-down and my honest first impression. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are look...
ZL1, COPO, L88, SS, RS, Z/28, Z06—without context, Chevy’s mid-century order codes are about as evocative as reading the back of a once-a-day vitamin bottle. Unsurprisingly, the docket of Mecum Auction’s upcoming sale of Rick Treworgy’s sprawling Muscle Car City is loaded to the air cleaners with these alphanumeric codes, and while it’s tempting to fixate on the incredible COPO Camaros and SS variants filling up the show floor of the former grocery store, we can’t tear our eyes from the rare and semi-obscure 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Z16 that’s up for grabs. See all 7 photos As demand for high-performance muscle car variants rose in the mid-1960s, Chevrolet realized the relatively staid Chevelle was at risk of falling behind its contemporaries as the big-b...
