Can a car get pudgy? That was the question I asked myself every time I saw our long-term 2020 Nissan Sentra languishing in my driveway. Without a commute to MotorTrend headquarters, for the time being, the Nissan had been making jaunts no more demanding than the half mile trip to the supermarket and the mile drive to my favorite Mexican drive-through joint. It brought to mind images of a bored, cooped-up dog in desperate need of a change of scenery and a good, long, vigorous walk. Or, wait, was that me? After its first couple of months’ service as strictly an around-town car, the Sentra finally had a chance to stretch its legs on the open road. Piloted by MotorTrend SEO guru Thomas Rosquin, our Nissan made the round trip from Southern California to Arizona and back again, p...

We expect Ford will introduce a Bronco Raptor at some point. But it probably won’t match the output of the new 2021 Hennessey VelociRaptor Bronco, which enters production next year. Hennessey dropped in a 5.0-liter Ford V-8 delivering 750 hp, allowing the SUV to reach 60 mph in a claimed 4.5 seconds. Power is routed through Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission. New fuel injectors, air-to-water intercooler, and performance intake and exhaust systems make up some of the key upgrades. The improvements continue with an upgraded off-road suspension and beefy off-road tires. A hood scoop, along with the custom livery and unique front grille, provide extra flavor. Hennessey didn’t forget about the interior, where you’ll find special touches including embroidered hea...
In our minds—and we assume the minds of many cash-strapped UK millennials—the amount spent on an engagement ring should be 100% up to the person buying it. While you can, of course, adhere to the above rules if that’s what you want, you can also take the advice of Michelle Oh, founder of Michelle Oh Jewellery, who says that ultimately choosing a piece of jewellery, especially, an engagement ring is a very personal choice. She also said that the focus has very much shifted from one that was all about how much the ring cost to what the ring wearer will like—so in many ways price doesn’t matter as much as it used to. Now keep scrolling to see some engagement rings we love. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating sh...
When people ask me what I’ve done over the pandemic, I can proudly say that I’ve perfected the cinnamon bun (it’s all in the proving), learnt how to use a sewing machine, and I have also managed to create the ideal working from home wardrobe. Yes, that does consist of a lot of stretchy denim and chunky knitwear, but it might surprise you to know that some of my favourite WFH outfits are dresses. There is, of course, one big box that any home office frock must tick: it has to have a bit of give. While I don’t imagine any of us are reaching for the Hervé Leger, some fabrics and silhouettes can be a little restrictive and uncomfortable so when I go for a dress to wear all day at my desk, I need it to be comfortable. That being said, it als...
Like most people currently living in tier 2 or tier 3, my weekend plans suddenly involve long winter walks, as there are varying restrictions on indoor activities. I love a long, blustering walk, but I wouldn’t typically choose to spend so much time outside in November. Whether you’re walking in Hampstead Heath, Hackney Marshes, or the Highlands, you’ll need practical items that will keep you warm over the course of winter. If you want outfits that will keep you toasty but are a little more interesting than a boring fleece and thermals, below, you’ll find seven items that will see you through a winter of outdoor activities in style. The first essential item you’ll need is a coat that will act like your very own portable heater, so I recommend you start w...
With track-sole boots becoming virtually ubiquitous earlier this year, it was only a matter of time before the chunky-sole trend infiltrated other types of footwear. That’s why it hardly came as a surprise this season when we started seeing statement loafers launch across luxury and high-street brands. When it comes to designer brands, Prada has been one of the labels at the forefront of this trend. The Italian fashion house launched a logo-embellished chunky loafer earlier this year, garnering the attention of models and influencers including Elsa Hosk, Pernille Teisbæk and more. (The coveted style has since sold out across multiple platforms.) Understandably, several other brands have also embraced the trend, with Proenza Schouler adding their signature c...

When the weather begins to cool, there are certain switches we start to make. We find ourselves drawn to knitwear, pulling on opaque tights, and generally donning a darker colour palette. This transition, however, isn’t solely reserved for our wardrobes; in fact, one of the first things we change up in a new season is our nail colours. That’s not to say you can’t wear bright nail colours in chilly months, but there’s something that just screams winter when you’ve got a moody or rich manicure. Not only do they look the part, but they feel incredibly luxurious, too. For inspiration, I asked some of the country’s top salons to tell us which autumn/winter nail polish colours their clients are asking for most right now. Se...
Although the internet would have you believe that millennials are only obsessed with buying plants and artisan coffees, we are (mostly) all grown up. It’ll come as no surprise, then, that when it comes to the beauty products we’re regularly purchasing, millennials are certainly “maturing.” Plenty of trend reports say we’re much more focused on skincare than makeup, opting to invest in products that aim to enhance what’s underneath. (Though, I certainly still enjoy both.) Between lengthy Korean skincare routines and new fancy gadgets, the fashion girls I spoke to are certainly upping their skincare game of late. Yet anti-ageing is still something many are unsure about. When exactly should we start an anti-ageing routine? Most importantly, do these prod...
If you were wondering where influencers are getting their winter shoes from this year, it feels like you’d be right 90% of the time if you guessed Dune. A long-time favourite of the British high street, the brand has impressed again this season. Never ones to miss out on a great affordable find, the fashion set can’t seem to get enough of Dune’s new drop, full of chunky soled boots and nineties loafers, perfect for taking on the long winter we have ahead. With a plethora of on-trend styles to choose from, and designs that look way beyond their high street price tags, it’s no surprise that our Instagram feed seems to be flooded with Dune’s new styles right now. Although the brand is well known for having a couple of sellout styles each season (their Lockstockk sandal from summer ...
The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is like your dad. Chances are you think of it in its later years—uncool, unremarkable, and incapable of getting a second look from the hottie that your mom once was. No question, the 1995-2007 front-drive Monte Carlos were about as uptight as a car could possibly be. But the earlier Montes—1970-1988, and particularly the 1980s cars—now those were hot stuff for young Cassanovas like your dad. Birth of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo The Monte Carlo first appeared for the 1970 model year as a follow-on to Pontiac’s first “personal luxury” car, the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix was the brainchild of John Z. DeLorean, who by this time was running Chevrolet, though he wasn’t involved in the Monte’s development. The latter was a response to new tren...
