Aside from brilliant coverage and a feather-light formula, another selling point of this concealer is its shade range. At present, there are 30 gorgeous tones to choose from. Indeed, diversity was integral to Nars’s founder, makeup artist and photographer François Nars’s vision when he launched the brand in 1994. “I started the brand because I was frustrated with not being able to find the best makeup or the best colours,” recalls Nars. “I believe the brand has stayed true to its roots because of that. When creating shades, I follow my instincts and use everything I’ve learned over the years. I feel that makeup is universal and should apply to everybody. I didn’t want to create a makeup line for one ethnic group—it had to be multiethnic....
There’s no telling if the Warthog name is truly heading to the Bronco, as the application only deems it for, “Land motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles.” That’s an admittedly broad list of possible applications. Nevertheless, internet forums have circulated the possibility of the top-dog Bronco model donning the “Warthog” name for some time now. Although Bronco fans aren’t product planners, the fact they’ve been predicting a name that the Blue Oval only just got around to trademarking does lend credit to the possibility of a future Bronco model bearing the Warthog name. Adding fuel to the fire is a recent photo put out by Ford on its social media channels. The image shows a camouflaged Bronco &...
The Suzuki Jimny is the tiny four-wheel-drive SUV that we absolutely love, and maybe even more than we really should. Automotive writers and critics have gone wild about it, but by any dispassionate analysis, the little Jimny sales case—where it likely wears a high price in a niche segment—is marginal in this country. If the sales justified homologating it here, wouldn’t someone find a way to do it? Suzuki might be gone as a seller of passenger vehicles in America, but surely there’s a partnership possibility with a company that remains in our market. Hey, wait a minute, there is! Toyota owns a stake in Suzuki. A small one to be sure, but a real one. And with the introduction of the Ford Bronco and the subsequent elevation of the dearly departed FJ Cruiser into the realm of a m...
Well, the beauty is in its simplicity. It ticks all the boxes for being soap and fragrance-free, plus it won’t clog pores. So, it won’t irritate most skin types. Honestly, there’s not much going on and that’s exactly what makes it so great. There aren’t many ingredients and the gentle formula is effective for sensitive skin. Dermatologists usually recommend it for this reason, and its accessible price point means that everyone can get in on the action. It’s the kind of cleanser that your skin craves when you’ve overdone it on the retinol and actives and your skin is tired and in need of a serious break. As it’s such a gentle cleanser and won’t strip the skin, it’s a great wash for the morning. If you’re wearing makeup, it...
The Nissan Z Proto is a close-to-production, retro-flavored concept preview of the 400Z. The 2022 Nissan 400Z will go on sale in America in the spring of 2021. The Proto has a twin-turbo V-6 we expect will make 400 horsepower in the 400Z. The Nissan 370Z seems to be such a permanent fixture in the Nissan lineup, you’ve probably stopped wondering how long it’s been around. Well, we’re going to tell you anyway because it matters: The current-gen Z launched in 2008, and 12 years is a pretty long haul even for a sports car. In fact, there were doubts if a successor was ever going to materialize, and between the slew of negative press Nissan has received the last couple of years and the current economic climate, you would be forgiven for losing all hope. But Nissan swore ...
A little more than two years ago, Lincoln and SBE announced a partnership that made the American automotive luxury brand the “official luxury vehicle” of a number of the hospitality group’s hotels. At the time, guests at eight different SBE properties were given the opportunity to get carted about in top-of-the-line Lincoln Navigator Black Label SUVs and Continental Black Label sedans. See all 22 photos Now, Lincoln and SBE are at it again. The two brands announced a continued commitment to the partnership, which allows those staying at the likes of the Hudson Hotel in New York City, the Delano in Miami’s South Beach, and the Mondrian in Los Angeles to enjoy the comfortable quarters of Lincoln’s Navigator or Aviator SUVs. That’s right, posh hotel g...
Contemplating whether or not to buy shoes that let you listen to beats with your feet may not have been a conundrum on music fans’ 2020 bingo card, but here we are. Thanks to DropLabs‘ new EP 01 shoes, an entirely new way of experiencing music is afoot. In something plucked out of a Black Mirror episode, the EP 01s connect to your music via Bluetooth to provide a thumping sound system under your feet, redefining the term “surround sound.” The phrase “sound system” is not an exaggeration since the shoes double as a legitimately powerful conduit of sound, able to be adjusted and amplified. Complete with tech specs, the sleek sneakers are controlled via the DropLabs mobile app, which acts as a controller to manipulate the numerous E...
First up, the shades. Honestly, I was more concerned with how the formula held up but I was actually most impressed by the 6 colours. This is probably the first product range where all of the shades have suited my dark skin tone. Even the Hot Pink. There’s usually, always a dud for me and I was pretty shocked that they all worked. When I applied the stain with the doe-foot applicator, it felt like all I had on my lips was water. It dried quickly and I was left with the coveted ice-lolly stained lips that everyone seems to want to replicate. Of course, the real test came when I popped my face mask on and headed out. When I came home I was pleasantly surprised to find that the pigment was still on my lips but there wasn’t a hint of it on my mask. It was also...
“Oh my God, do you love it?” We are stuck at a red light waiting for it to turn. For a short distance on the west side of San Francisco, just south of the Golden Gate Bridge, California Highway 1 ends and turns into busy 19th Avenue. This is my least favorite part of driving to the coastal areas north of the city. It’s always busy, and the lanes are narrow. “I had to get up next to you so I could take a picture! What is it? It’s just so happy! I love it so much!” The woman in the car next to us trying to get our attention isn’t talking about our long-term 2020 Kia Telluride. She’s talking about the ultra-cool, super-cute, vintage-looking travel trailer we have hitched behind us. The travel trailer, a Mammoth White HC1, is built by Los Angeles...
Jaguar sold just over 31,000 cars and SUVs in the United States last year, nearly half of which were F-Paces. To say the company’s biggest SUV is its most important model (at least on our shore) is something of an understatement. And now the company’s best-seller—a fat cat gorging on profits, if you will—is getting a major update. Jaguar brings the 2021 F-Pace’s exterior up to date with its current design language, taking cues such as the LED daytime running lights’ blades and the silver strakes in the side intakes off of other models in its lineup. The rear-end gets new taillights that mimic what’s found on the I-Pace, while the rear bumper looks more elegant thanks to a small nip and tuck. It’s What’s Inside the 2021 F-Pace That Counts While the ...
I spend a lot of my time testing makeup and the large boxes of products underneath my bed exemplify just how vast my collection is. But, when it comes to my own makeup bag, I only use a handful of staples. The core components of my look haven’t really changed from my early days of makeup experimenting. The primary difference is that I’ve had significant product upgrades since then. One of these is liquid eyeliner. I studied fashion and beauty history and exclusively wore vintage clothing for a long time, so my affection for winged eyeliner has been a mainstay. I was captivated by the doe-eyed actresses in 1950s and 60s films and their ever-so-precise feline flicks. My first foray into the world of eyeliner came courtesy of a chunky kohl eyeliner I picked up at in a local market...
More recently, however, I found that the majority of the newer mascaras are genuinely great and the amount of so-so formulas in my collection has started to dwindle. And this year, there have been more mascara launches than I can count on my hands. From seriously amped-up volume to curl-holding abilities like no other, the claims that they carry mean business. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that my top five favourite mascaras ever made all came out in 2020. It seems that suddenly, clumpy, irritating formulas just stopped existing. Instead, what we have are new-gen mascaras with almost unbelievably good results. But with so many formulas out there, how are we supposed to separate the wheat from the chaff? Well my beauty-loving friends, luckily you have me, a mascara hoarder that has tried...
