My Favourite Cult Brand Is On Sale—And These Are The Best Pieces

As contemporary labels go, Faithfull The Brand has been on my radar quite a lot recently. Solidifying itself as a favourite amongst It-girls and influencers the Indonesia-based label has taken up a prominent position on my Instagram feed, as it seems that just about every member of the style set is a fan of label’s vibrant florals and eye-catching patterned pieces.  From Chrissy Rutherford to Lucy Williams, influencers everywhere are championing the brand’s summer-ready styles that truly embody the spirit of the season. Over the last year, I’ve kept a mental note of all the Faithfull the Brand items I’ve seen on Instagram, that I’d love to add to my closet. Whether it be an oh-so-cool tie-dye linen shirt or a wear-anywhere floral mini ...

Driving While Black: Chronicling a Chapter in America’s History on the Road

“Undoubtedly the right of locomotion, the right to move from one place to another according to inclination, is an attribute of personal liberty, and … a right secured by the Fourteenth Amendment and by other provisions of the Constitution.” —Williams v. Fears, 1900 Green Book—the Oscar-winning Hollywood movie loosely based on the life of African American virtuoso pianist Don Shirley and his white driver and bodyguard, Frank “Tony Lip” Vallelonga—introduced white filmgoers to The Negro Motorist Green Book, one of several travel guides used by Black families and business travelers in the Jim Crow era. Many white audiences were startled by the idea that Black Americans driving a car in the supposedly civilized postwar United States could be fraught with racial hazards,...

9 Items That Are Perfect for a Summer Spent Outdoors

There’s nothing like months spent inside to make you crave the great outdoors—after spending most of 2020 in a second-floor flat with no balcony or outdoor space, I’ve been dreaming of fields and walks that don’t involve dodging people on pavements. Whether you’re isolating in the Cotswolds or Clapton, the lockdown has brought on a nationwide appreciation of nature. I’ve personally been flower pressing daisies I’ve collected from the banks of East London’s canals and now class a bike ride as my perfect activity.  Turns out I’m not alone and this has a name— ‘cottagecore’. It’s an internet aesthetic that started trending on the platform TikTok and which The Guardian defines as ‘a visual and...

People Don’t Believe My Mom Is 71—Here Are 8 Anti-Ageing Serums She Uses

As my mom told me over the phone, Youn connected the dots for her when he said the most important thing we can do for our skin is to eat a clean, healthy diet, and sugar basically equals wrinkles. So as my mom began to reduce her sugar intake and make healthier choices when it came to meals and snacking, her skin started looking better and better, and she became more interested in what else she could do to help some age-related redness, dark spots, fine lines, and not-so-fine lines that were becoming ever harder to miss when she looked in the mirror each morning. (Her words, not mine!) “Frankly, I’m also embarrassed to admit I’d never done much besides a morning facial cleanse in the shower, some moisturiser under my makeup, and an evening cleanse,” she laughs. “But as I ...

25 Black-Owned Skincare, Hair and Makeup Brands We Love and Support

Pat McGrath is one of the most iconic makeup artists in history, and her namesake makeup brand, Pat McGrath Labs, more than lives up to her legendary name. Fun fact: The brand also just announced iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell as its first-ever global face of Pat McGrath Labs. “The entire planet is just as cosmetics obsessed as I’ve always been,” McGrath explains on the brand’s website. “Makeup is a movement. Makeup is mesmerising. Makeup is major. Mantra-esque, three words have repeated over and over in my mind ever since I was young. Obsession. Inspiration. Addiction. Those words became my guiding principles, my manifesto as I brought this brand to life.”  Visit the brand’s website and you’ll be faced wi...

All the Clueless Outfits We’d Still Wear Today

While Paul Rudd’s inability to age might continue to baffle us (does he have a portrait in the attic? I’d like to know), there’s one thing from Clueless that will never perplex us: the fashion. The trends in the much-loved iconic ’90s movie remain popular even in 2020. True, it’s been 25 years since the film was released, so it’s no surprise that plenty of the trends have come back around by now, but the thing is they never really went away. From the strappy dresses to the oversize black jackets as well as sheer tops, there are so many looks that were made mainstream by the film that we just absorbed into our wardrobes forever. Ready to see the key pieces Cher et al. introduced to us? Keep scrolling for the best Clueless outfits that we still wear today. You Deserve to Make Money Even...

5 Hairstyles to Wear If You Haven’t Seen Your Hairdresser in Months

Shout-out to everyone who sees their hairdresser more often than their best mates, as I know that it’s been tough going these past few months. While I don’t want to downplay how important it has been to stay at home, there’s no denying that our grooming options have been a little lacklustre. Home waxes, manis and pedis are actually pretty good with a bit of practice, but the facts are you can’t give yourself a proper haircut. And no, watching a YouTube video doesn’t count.  But that’s not to say fashion girls aren’t looking as chic as they used to—nothing is cooler than natural, understated hairstyles, and we’re even seeing a revival of the ultimate bad-hair-day best friend: the plait. There are definitely some standout...

I Think This Bikini Trend Looks Good on Everyone

I always want bikini shopping to be as quick and easy as possible, and over the years, I have realised there is one trend that I just can’t fault when it comes to fit. Thanks to Hunza G, seersucker bikinis and one-pieces have been one of the most popular swimsuit trends for the past few years. The brand was originally launched in 1984 and created the iconic minidress Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman. Thirty years later, the brand switched gears to create one-size scrunch-fabric swimsuits in a rainbow of colours.  Hunza’s suits have become go-tos among the A-list. When Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore one of the suits in Italy last year, the site crashed due to the surge in demand. Unsurprisingly, this trend for scrunch-fabric swimwear has hit the h...

I Try Hundreds of Products a Year, But I Can’t Be Without This £9 Cleanser

Almost like magic, after just a couple of days, my skin will already be showing signs of clearing up. And after a couple of weeks of using the blemish-fighting cleanser every day, I can usually expect my skin to be more or less blemish-free. Put it this way: If I could have it my way, this would be the only cleanser that I ever use. When a cleanser costs under £10, I’m always a little dubious. However, a quick glance over the ingredients list of this one proves that top-notch skin clarifying ingredients don’t always justify a steep price tag. Most notably, it contains congestion-busting salicylic acid to slough away at dead skin cells with minimal irritation. On top of that, and this is where my real skincare geek comes out to play, it contains hydrating and glow-boosting niacin (or vitami...

2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster First Drive: Same Power, Less Top

There’s something about driving with the top off that’s special. The open-air experience, even when the weather doesn’t fully cooperate, brings a dose of aliveness to the cabin. There’s a sensation of being free and privileged. Apply that to a supercar, and the experience is multiplied by a 100. The Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster brings the same power as its coupe sibling. But with its roof down, it delivers a playful drive that might be more engaging than the hardtop. 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster—The Basics There are many similarities between the roadster and the coupe, but one thing that sets them apart (besides the topless ability) is the limited production for the convertible—just 750 units worldwide. At $191,745 to start, you’re getting something special. ...

2021 Buick Envision Avenir Is Coming, As Previewed By the Elegant Chinese-Market Version

The revamped 2021 Buick Envision arrives early next year in the U.S. with a more modern interior, more standard safety features, and a more attractive exterior design. GM also promised it would bring out a range-topping, luxurious Avenir trim like the one it offers on the larger Enclave, and now we’re finally getting a glimpse of this upscale variant, or at least the Chinese-market version. We hope ours looks similar. In this photo, the Avenir is depicted as wearing a special grille with a shiny mesh design. It also gets new wheels we haven’t seen before on the Envision. The plum exterior and the body-color wheel arches look quite becoming on the SUV, which is lower and wider in its new iteration. The treatment overall is pretty much a dead-on copy of the Avenir trim on the lar...
