It's not every day we get a true car industry leader for our ongoing DRIVERS series, but when we do, we love learning about their career and how they got there. It's a dream come true for a lot, so the knowledge and advice they pass down is truly inspiring. And RJ de Vera is the perfect role model for this.RJ de Vera is a veritable household name for car enthusiasts. His humble beginnings as an editor at Super Street magazine would eventually lead to consultation and work for numerous brands like XBox's Forza Motorsport 2 and Valvoline, a small stint on MTV's car-centric series Trick It Out, senior positions at Meguiar's and 3M and much more. Oh and yes of course, he starred and consulted in the first Fast and the Furious film long before it jumped the shark with submarines, zombie cars an...
Tesla will recall more than two million cars in the U.S. to fix a "defect" in the brand's Autopilot system. The massive figure accounts for almost every Model S, Y, X and 3 that the brand has sold in the country, since Autopilot launched in 2015.The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) issued the recall notice on Monday, following a two-year investigation regarding a number of accidents that occurred with Tesla's vehicles using the Autopilot system."In certain circumstances when Autosteer is engaged, the prominence and scope of the feature’s controls may not be sufficient to prevent driver misuse,” the NHTSA said in a statement. The agency noted that the feature's inconsistencies could be responsible for an "increased risk of a collision."In response to the notice, Te...

Chen Ke has released a new limited edition screenprint in collaboration with Perrotin. The artwork follows her ongoing solo exhibition, Bauhaus Gal – Theatre, currently on view at the gallery's Paris location. The show takes its inspiration from a photograph the Beijing-based artist observed of a group of girls studying at the Bauhaus school in Germany. "They lived 100 years ago, but they're not so different from women nowadays," noted Ke in a past interview. "They might be more avant-garde and courageous." Despite commonly being associated as one of the most radical and free-thinking art schools over the past 100 years, the Bauhaus still played into social norms of the day by limiting the type of programs women could study, resulting in visionary figures, such as Anni Albers pursuing text...
The 2023 edition of Art Basel Miami Beach is in the books and it didn’t quite match the same expectations set up over the past few years. Namely, there wasn’t ‘that’ viral moment that everyone has come to expect with the fair. Think Maurizio Cattelan’s infamous banana installation.Tucked away at the UBS Collectors Lounge, however, BMW worked closely with Los Angeles-based artist Alex Israel to reveal a unique installation that carried the same level of excitement — and not to mention, invasiveness — of a viral artwork, such as MSCHF’s ATM Leaderboard last year, but done so in a way that was less of a peanut gallery and instead emphasized the actual experience of the visitor.Entitled REMEMBR, the collaboration invited participants to download an app which utilizes AI to analyze one’s camera...
