Coinciding with the second edition of Frieze Seoul, CIRCA ART has collaborated with South Korean artist Koo Jeong A on custom 3D animations that are currently broadcasting across four screens in the Gangnam District each evening at 08:23 until 30 September 2023.The interactive graphics run for three minutes daily, where a QR code will prompt onlookers to submit their own Smell Stories — a series of questions: such as age, occupation, description of the scent and the city in which it originated from. As the art world descends on Asia this week for the return of Frieze Seoul, mega gallery Pace has announced that it will be expanding its presence within the region by adding a new permanent location in Tokyo. Opening in spring 2024, the latest gallery will be situated in the heart of the city at the burgeoning Azabudai Hills — dubbed a "Modern Urban Village", which will feature a state-of-the-art complex of skyscrapers, intermixed with lush greenery, restaurants, and shops. The Cleveland Museum of Art will unveil a new exhibition that shines a light on China's Jiangnan region, which has served as a cultural powerhouse for the nation, producing many commodities closely associated to China, including jade and silk. Entitled China’s Southern Paradise: Treasures from the Lower Yangzi Delta, the show will include over 200 artworks loaned from seven institutions across mainland China, as well as works from a number of public and private collections from around the world.
