Sometimes amusing, other-times perplexing, the work of Iranian-American artist Ashkon Haidari is always mystery — both for the artist and the viewer. Born and based in Chicago, Haidari primarily works across drawings, etchings and oil paintings as a way to journal his observations. A list of editors, journalists, artists and illustrators have compiled an open letter petitioning against the use of AI generated artwork. The initiative is led by artist and author, Molly Crabapple, along with a number of prominent figures within the media world, including Vox writer Aja Romano, MSNBC commentator Chris Hayes, Popular Front journalist Jake Hanrahan and 972 others, at the time of writing. Austin Lee has unveiled a new solo exhibition with Pace Prints in New York. The partnership comes after five years in which the artist collaborated with the studio further pushing his exploration into the fusion of analog and digital techniques. Good Impressions, as the show has been dubbed, will present a number of editions and multiples made using both traditional and digital methods, spanning the intimate to the monumental. In particular, Lee has readapted his painting On the Way, originally conceived using virtual reality, into a sculptural multiple of 25. The artwork humorously depicts the emotional crisis that often strikes when on a family road trip.
