There are only a few things I know to be undeniably true. First, the best hair days tend to happen when you have no plans and you’re not going to be leaving the house (naturally). Second, a breakout is sure to appear on the eve of a big event, like a birthday, job interview, graduation, or wedding (it’s just the way it is). Third, French-girl beauty will never go out of style (this is an absolute). The latter has been proven time and time again. Whether it’s the popularity of French beauty brands or trending French skincare secrets, everyone knows there’s a classic and timeless aspect to it. And that’s certainly true when it comes to French hairstyles, like Birkin bangs. Popularised by French icon Jane Birkin in the ’60s, these...
When it comes to shopping on the high street, H&M is arguably one of the most reliable retailers to turn to. Yes, there’s still a long way to go to making the brand a more sustainable, responsible place to shop (as with all fast fashion brands). But if you’re out there looking for stylish basics and design-led pieces with an affordable price tag to wear on repeat, it’s tough to beat. In fact, H&M is one of the best-selling brands on Who What Wear UK. No doubt because, like us, you love an expensive-looking high street find. But also because you appreciate a wardrobe staple as much as us—and that’s what H&M does best. This much became clear when we did a little digging into H&M’s best-selling items of 2022 and we discovered that thousands (literally thousands) of you in...
I may have been born at the tail end of the ’80s, but I still consider myself to be a ’90s child. I wore floral leggings with oversize T-shirts, tied my hair with a rainbow of scrunchies, and donned my light-up trainers with pride. Of course, perhaps with the exception of the scrunchie, I would never wear such items now, but it seems there are a plethora of cool ’90s trends I missed out on because of my age. And the most notable has to be the leather blazer. Practically the uniform of the ’90s A-list elite—think Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Cindy Crawford—the leather blazer was easily the coolest cover-up of the decade. Most commonly worn with slip dresses, vintage denim, or a pair of tiny rectangle sunglasses, it now appears the throw-on is making a comeba...
Totême’s mid-heel elasticated ankle boots are also a favourite, becoming one of this season’s worthy investment buys for those looking for a smarter everyday ankle boot that can be worn with trousers and dresses alike. First released in black leather and suede, due to their continued popularity they are now available in a tan suede and brown leather moc-croc, all of which you can shop below. Across the high street COS, Massimo Dutti and Mango have been the go-tos for premium leather footwear at a reasonable price. As always, COS doesn’t disappoint when it comes to modern yet classic styles in neutral hues and Mango has plenty of timeless pairs in its repertoire this winter. Meanwhile, LK Bennett’s gold croc-effect knee-highs were fina...
No matter if I find a new purchase in the sales at a pleasingly discounted price, or if I saved up to get the investment piece I’ve had my eye on for a while, I always expect anything I spend my hard earned money on to look (and feel) like a million dollars. It could be a plain white t-shirt or a luxurious cashmere knit, but whether you’ve spent £20 or £200, the results should always be the same–that you feel comfortable and confident in whatever you’re wearing. With that in mind I always shop with a critical eye, thinking about the fabrication and construction of an item, and having picked up a few styling tips on the recurring pieces that look the most expensive, I can spot an investment piece from a mile off, but how can you keep up ...
Chrissy Teigen is proving that being a swimsuit model and being pregnant aren’t mutually exclusive. In a new Instagram photo from her and John Legend‘s beachside holiday getaway, the former Sports Illustrated covergirl showed off her baby bump in a black bikini — a shot she hilariously dubbed “Storks Illustrated.” In the a photo shared Wednesday (Dec. 21), Teigen stands on a sandy shore with her feet in the water, looking on as her son, 4-year-old Miles, runs from an approaching wave. Facing slightly away from the camera, the Cravings founder’s belly is on full display in her two-piece, which she revealed in a followup post is from the brand Monday Swimwear. “storks illustrated? I don’t know,” she jokingly captioned the post. Teigen is currently expecting her third child with Legend, with ...
When it comes to spotting new styles, I’ve always been told that one’s a statement, two’s a trend. But when four—yes four—celebrities are spotted in the same jacket? It’s an It item. The buy in question is the Loewe bomber jacket that has been embraced by four fashionable celebrities; Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Lori Harvey and Taylor Russell. In line with the rest of the brand’s creations, the Loewe bomber jacket is unlike any other. It’s injected a playful feel by playing with an exaggerated proportion that makes this coat something of a bomber-puffer hybrid. The cropped length adds to the sculptural shape, and with hands in the pockets the full extent of the fun silhouette is exposed. The style comes in a sleek l...

If there’s one pair of sneakers I can’t seem to shake, it’s the New Balance 550s. Throughout the year my saved folder has been brimming with influencers, editors and celebrities wearing them all different ways, showcasing their various colour-ways and collaborations. Notoriously selling out faster than you can say “hypebeast”, these retro-inspired trainers are almost as difficult to get as Glastonbury tickets, and are fetching double their RRP on resale sites. I don’t know about you, but when one year comes to an end and another begins, I always get the urge to have a wardrobe sort out. New year, more organised me and all that. But it does just seem like the perfect time to take stock of pieces I haven’t worn throughout the year, and identify any gaps that could really do with filling. It also means that once you have an idea of the pieces you’d like to invest in going into the year ahead— a crisp white shirt maybe, or a perfect blazer—you can then bag them in the end-of-year and January sales for less. This is exactly what I just did, specifically in the COS winter sale—and let me tell you, I found so many amazing staples that I wanted for 2023. Of course, we all know how great COS is year-round for those reliable yet elevated w...
Vandals have defaced the Nullarbor Plain art carved into the walls of South Australia’s Koonalda Cave. The ancient rock art dates back roughly 30,000 years and was cherished by the Aboriginal Mirning people native to the region. “This is quite frankly shocking,” said South Australia Attorney-General and Aboriginal Affairs Minister, Kyam Maher, in an interview with ABC Radio. “These caves are some of the earliest evidence of Aboriginal occupation of that part of the country.” Since the 1980s, the site had been protected by a steel gate, but the vandals dug a hole under it and wrote “don’t look now, but this is a death cave”, over the chalk limestone walls. “The vandals caused a huge amount of damage. The art is not recoverable,” said Keryn Walshe, an archaeologist of ancient Aboriginal site...
Hauser & Wirth is showcasing the first solo exhibition in Greater China on the late-American artist Mike Kelley. Housed at the gallery’s Hong Kong location, Subharmonic Tangerine Abyss examines Kelley’s Kandor series through an array of evocative sculptures and installations. Kelley first began his Kandor series back in 1999, in preparation for an exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Bonn where the theme of the show ruminated on ‘new media of the past’. The Los Angeles-based artist chose to use Kandor, the fictional home city of Superman from planet Krypton, which the hero left as an infant due to the threats of total destruction. Superman later finds out that the city of Kandor was shrunk by his evil archvillain Braniac and preserved in a glass bottle. After a series of battles, Superman gai...
