The forthcoming exhibition looks to explore the collapsed landscapes and forced optimism that the black diaspora, specifically the Windrush generation (people that arrived in the UK between 1948 and 1971 from the Caribbean), has experienced in postmodern Britain — placing an emphasis on sculpture and painting with additional elements of sound design, furniture, drawing, and fashion. Artist, designer and typographist Pieter Ciezer has returned with the latest installment of his signature Woody sculpture series: a happy-go-lucky design dubbed Good Vibes. The Amsterdam-born, Paris-based artist is known for his use of bright colors, skillful line work and lighthearted ethos, all of which are on display across Good Vibes. Handmade in Ciezer’s Paris studio, Good Vibes was constructed from solid wood, painted white and featuring precise lines that encircle abstract purple, red, yellow, blue and green shapes. A 7-color screenprint was used to achieve these effects, and Good Vibes stands a little over 10 inches tall with a width of roughly 14 1/2 inches and a thickness of almost three inches. Arts non-profit Woman Life Freedom have unveiled a new installation on New York’s Roosevelt Island to raise awareness to the humanitarian crisis happening in Iran. Made in collaboration with French artist JR and For Freedoms, a civil rights platform founded by Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman, Iranian artists Aphrodite Deìsireìe Navab, Icy and Sot, Shirin Neshat, Sepideh Mehraban, and Sheida Soleimani present a series of large-scale artworks entitled Eyes on Iran. Amongst the new work, the project features a monumental vinyl mural by Neshat depicting Farsi script wrapped around an eye that directly points at the United Nations.
