Mercedes-Benz’s EQ division is pumping out electric cars for the masses, and now it expands its range with the all-new EQE SUV. The car comes in as Mercedes-Benz’s regularly-sized electric SUV, sitting above the EQC and the EQE sedan, but beneath the soon-coming EQS SUV and the flagship EQS saloon. In short, think of this car like your average family SUV, in the same ballpark as the Mercedes-Benz GLE. While it was rather exciting that Mercedes-Benz has unveiled another EV to broaden its range, what’s more exciting is the reveal of Mercedes-AMG‘s effort. Here, the Affalterbach team has delivered its first all-electric SUV in the form of the EQE SUV, in turn creating a car that packs 677 HP courtesy of two electric motors, one placed on each axle. Elsewhere, the AMG E...
Genesis Belanger returns to Perrotin in a new solo exhibition housed at the gallery’s Paris flagship. In Blow Out, the Brooklyn-based artist transforms each room into a surrealist theatre, filled with mixed-media sculptures that narrate a metaphorical story of high-living heartbreak. The exhibition begins in a deserted discount store carefully staged with common objects, such as a shopping cart, bubblegum dispenser and pantry shelf. Inspired by the world of advertisement and art history, Belanger comments on narratives linked to gender and power through intricately crafted ceramic and powder-coated sculptures, including her latest wall-mounted dioramas. The second room casts visitors in what remains to be a debauched dinner party, where lavish flowers and a chaise lounge is countered with ...
Archaeologists have uncovered a 1,600-year-old Roman-era mosaic located in the Syrian city of Rastan. The mosaic measures roughly 1,300 square feet and is one of the first major discoveries since the Syrian Civil War began in 2011. “What is in front of us is a discovery that is rare on a global scale,” said Dr. Humam Saad, the associate director of the excavation, in an interview with The Associated Press. The mosaic is rich in detail and depicts scenes from the Trojan War, along with unique portrayals of Amazon warriors in Roman mythology. Also depicted is Neptune, the Roman god of water and sea, with 40 of his mistresses. “We can’t identify the type of the building, whether it’s a public bathhouse or something else, because we have not finished excavating yet,” Saad added. Looting and de...
With the changing of the season comes a shift in our shopping attitudes. We move from whimsical purchasing behaviours to investing more seriously in our wardrobes. Now is the time when editors, stylists, influencers and fashion enthusiasts alike begin to consider which elevated coats, bags, dresses, boots and knits are worthy of their time, budget and wardrobe space. You Dese...

Almine Rech unveiled a new exhibition spotlighting the work of legendary American artist, Alexander Calder. Housed at the gallery’s Matignon location in Paris, the show presents a large assortment of work, including paper-based studies, jewelry made with brass and wire, along with his signature mobile sculptures. Calder Unfolding intends to give a glimpse into the artist’s far-reaching interests. Many of the paper-based work is executed in ink and gouache, subtly reflecting energetic hues and shapes inspired by Calder’s lifelong fascination with the circus. Also on view are a series of intricate jewelry made in wire, a material that the artist always carried with him and used as a medium to express his thoughts. The gallery is also showcasing two of Calder’s kinetic sculptures — a tabletop...
