Porter Robinson and Crunchyroll are teaming up for a bespoke “anime music experience” at Second Sky, the electronic music star’s curated music festival in the Bay Area. According to a press release shared with EDM.com, the “Anime Shelter” experience will feature DJs from Tokyo’s iconic Akihabara anime nightclub, MOGRA, who are set to return to the states for the first time since 2019. Ravers will also be able to gulp down anime-inspired drinks at the pop-up, which takes its name from Robinson’s 2016 hit, “Shelter.” “MOGRA is one of my favorite places in the world—the all-night anisongs and incredible live VJing is an experience that has become rightfully famous worldwide and it’s somewhere I go every time I’m in Japan,”...
Knowing what to wear to a dinner party was something I didn’t need to consider until a few years ago. Any decent friendship group worth their salt wouldn’t have inflicted their grotty first-time flats and poor culinary skills upon a Friday night, and instead, it was all about going out somewhere to find the fun. Night-out dressing in itself is a tricky thing, presenting itself with the same old conundrums time after time: Should I wear high heels, or will it ruin my evening if we end up schlepping from bar to bar? It’s raining, but isn’t it inherently uncool to carry an umbrella? What if everyone else is super casual and I’ve chosen that night to crack out a vintage gown? All of these irritations can be soothed by the nice, comforting, comfortable, g...
Dresses, dresses, dresses, we can’t get enough of them. And if you thought they were more of a summer thing, thing again, because the autumn offerings are so good. We’ve got cosy knitted styles, satin and sequin iterations for any upcoming parties, and then there’s jersey. Yep, that’s right, we consider jersey dresses to be up there with the best of them. Because we can all remember how incredible that ruched £25 H&M version (which sold out within hours and is back in stock now) looked, right? The best part about anything jersey is the stretch, which means instant comfort. It also means they can work for just about any occasion, with the ability to be dressed up or down with a simple swap of shoes and accessories. In fact, some of the best dresses we&...

In case the Lotus Evija wasn’t rare enough for you, the British marque has just unveiled its next masterpiece — the limited-edition Emerson Fittipaldi Evija. Restricted to just eight units — which have all been sold — the Evija Fittipaldi harks back to Lotus‘ days of Formula 1 with a black and gold colorway drawn from the iconic Lotus Type 72 race car. Here, the livery adorns not just the lightweight, futuristic body, but also the wheels and the interior, a place where recycled original Type 72 aluminum has been used to create rotary dials for the driver’s use. The exterior has been hand-painted while special touches, including a hand-tinted plan view of the Type 72 etched into the exposed carbon fiber roof and Fittipaldi’s signature hand-stitched ...

This issue of Open Road was originally published on Hypebeast Korea. It has been adapted accordingly. Porsche’s GTS insignia can be found across the range, defining its cars that sit somewhere between its entry-level road cars and the machines that can take on the track. The previously unveiled 911 GTS, 718 Boxster GTS, Panamera GTS, and Macan GTS have satisfied the demanding tastes of Porsche enthusiasts. But, last July, Porsche unveiled its latest GTS model – the controversially electric Taycan GTS. Taycan means “soul of a spirited young horse” in Turkish, and was inspired by the black horse running wild in the Porsche emblem. Today, Porsche’s only electric vehicle model, the Taycan, is available in a variety of lineups from the base model to the 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S with the GTS...
Following a string of exhibitions at Library Street Collective and Cranbrook Art Museum, Tyrrell Winston is set to unveil another solo exhibition at Detroit staple, Louis Buhl & Co. Suicide Squeeze marks the first time the artist has shown works on paper, along with his exploratory reference sculptures. In the latter, Winston juxtaposes a variety of inspirations — from books on Cy Twombly and Richard Prince, his signature found basketballs and stacks of cigarette boxes. The title of the exhibition references a ‘suicide squeeze’ play in baseball, where a runner is advanced from third to home through a sacrifice bunt — “a simple stroke, nothing grand, something personal and intimate,” as Winston described it in a statement. Also on view are new “Punishment Paintings” made on paper, ...
Brendan Donnelly is a collector of things. Prints, news clippings and various ephemera that he has accumulated over a 30-year span, which he uses to create provocative reflections of celebrity culture. His multi-disciplinary practice often floats from writing to painting to performance and back again — always carrying a penchant of humor as he creates between the worlds of fine art and lowbrow culture. Published by Hat & Beard Press, the Los Angeles-based artist has released his first book, titled I Wanted to be an Actor, but I Could Never Remember My Lines. Donnelly presents a rich assortment of celebrity memorabilia that he has collected from movie stores, head shops, souvenir shops, newsstands, adult video stores, and bookstores on Hollywood Boulevard. Each spread oscillates between...
From a young man disguised as an elderly woman, to activists gluing themselves to priceless works of art — protesters have recently gone to unordinary measures to raise awareness to issues, such as climate change. Another incident happened earlier today at the National Gallery in London, where several protesters part of Just Stop Oil threw two cans of Heinz Tomato soup at Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers (1888) painting and proceeded in glueing their hands just beneath it. One of the activists, London resident Phoebe Plummer, proceeded in saying: “What is worth more, art or life? Is it worth more than food? Worth more than justice? Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting, or the protection of our planet and people? The cost of living crisis is part of the cost of oil crisis....
Introducing I Can’t Live Without–our latest fashion feature series that celebrates the most-loved items in our wardrobe. Here, shoe lovers, bag worshippers and jewellery collectors that make up some of the world’s most stylish people will pen an ode to their most cherished piece, and showcase exactly how they style it in their everyday life. There are some things in life that are imperative to our survival: air, water, love and The Real Housewives of Orange County, to name a few. And then there are other things that feel equally essential to a fashion lover, but are far more superficial, like shoes and handbags. Of course, accessories of any calibre are not actually required to survive, but there are a select few items in my wardrobe tha...
