It was back in July 2021 that the reboot of everyone’s favourite fashion-centric show, Sex and the City, officially began filming in New York City before And Just Like That launched in December the very same year, and it’s safe to say that the series got the whole Who What Wear team talking. There was plenty of newness on the cards in season one, but thankfully one thing remained the same: the fashion. That’s right, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte were back in action and wearing some very on-brand outfits for each of their characters. (Sadly, Samantha was not part of the new spin-off, and her sassy ensembles and witty one-liners will continue to be sorely missed.) Season one didn’t disappoint when it came to standout fashion moments, with highlights including a s...
Her & Other Stories black-and-white cardigan is so classic, allowing for plenty of styling options, but the jeans pairing is our current favourite. Personally, I am so pleased that cardigans have regained their fashionable status in recent years, as they’ve become one of the most versatile additions to my wardrobe. I’ve come to rely on cardigans for this awkward in-between weather. For days when the sun peaks through, having a cardigan to hand will save you when the evening chill sets in. Better still, for your travel temperature dilemmas, you head out for the day wrapped up to avoid the autumn chill, but when you take your first step into the tube station, you immediately regret every single layer. That’s the beauty of a cardigan. Wear it do...
Kate Middleton has never been one to shy away from bright colours any time of year, autumn included. And she always seems to be attuned to the current season’s colour trends and undoubtedly furthers them when she wears them. This time around, that colour is marigold. The Princess of Wales visited a hospital today, wearing a pleated golden-yellow midi dress that resembled the colour of a changing leaf. She paired the Karen Millen dress with her favourite heels to wear with dresses and everything else: high pointed-toe pumps. They’re as classic as shoes get, and her frequent use of them proves their versatility. But back to the marigold of it all. Marigold pieces (and often full looks) made frequent appearances on the fall/winter 2022 runways, and th...
Iranian-born, New York-based artist Shirin Neshat has worked with art collective Circa on a new digital mural and print raising awareness to the current humanitarian crisis in Iran. For those unfamiliar to the events, several weeks ago, a 22-year-old woman in Tehran named Mahsa Amini fell into a coma and died while being detained by the nation’s “Morality Police” on charges of improperly wearing her hijab. According to a report by BBC, Amini’s father accused the Iranian authorities of beating his daughter, to which they refuted and said she died from “sudden heart failure.” Afterwards, nationwide protests sparked across the country of roughly 84m residents, as well as across social media from the global Iranian diaspora. The protests have ensued for 20 days now, including raids on students...
As a heritage luxury French brand, it makes sense that Serge Lutens creates perfumes fit for the coolest French women around. If you’ve never heard of Serge Lutens before, let me give you a quick recap, as I believe that knowing some background might help you to understand why the brand’s perfumes are so special. Born in France, Lutens himself has lived a life filled with best of French beauty. He has, I suppose, helped define the French beauty standard. Having delved into the professional worlds of photography and makeup by the age of 14, Lutens essentially grew up with fashion and beauty royalty—think the likes of Richard Avedon and Irving Penn. In the late ’60s, he created Dior’s first-ever makeup collection. In the ’80s, he helped launc...
Black culture has informed and inspired the beauty space for decades—a fact that we need to celebrate, credit and sustain. Now and forever. That’s why supporting the Black community and Black-owned businesses is important, not just right now during Black History Month, but always. There is a need and an opportunity to supply this kind of support, love and commitment every single day, and right now, we’ll be doing this by shining a light on some of the brilliant Black-owned skincare, hair and makeup brands that we swear by. We acknowledge that there is still a lot of work to be done. As we’ve communicated before, it’s about continuing to rise above (not simply to) the occasion and make actionable steps with deep indentati...
With the temperatures dropping and the big c-word (Christmas!) floating in the air, it’s safe to say that there’s only been one thing on my mind this week: coats. As a self-declared coat fanatic, I pride myself on being able to make most styles, colours, fits and shapes work in my wardrobe, from a puffer at the weekend to a satin trench on a night out, a classic wool coat for work to a cropped jacket for special occasions. However, there is one style that I am yet to invest in but that has most certainly caught my eye this season and that’s a camel coat. Elegant, timeless and endlessly versatile, the camel coat is largely considered to be one of the hardest working pieces in one’s wardrobe, so with that in mind I’ve decided that 2022 is the year I take the plunge and...

A Chinese tianqiuping vase (celestial sphere vase) has just shocked the auction house world by selling close to 4,000 times its estimated high. The traditional blue-white vase was expected to reach a high of $2,000 USD but ended up seeing a hammer price of $7.6 million USD — $9 million after fees. A bidding war composed of 30 individuals, made up of mostly Chinese buyers, lit up the Fontainebleau-based auction house’s telephone lines on October 1 for the 54cm vase. A specialist from the auction house elaborated that the vase was a “quite ordinary” 20th-century vase and not the 18th-century relic that many believe it to be. The original owner came in possession of the vase via her grandmother who was a collector in Paris. Cedric Labord, a director of Osenat commented, “From the moment the c...
Acclaimed South Korean comic artist Kim Jung Gi died suddenly this week at age 47. Kim was wrapping up his trip in Europe, and on his way to the airport for his flight to New York, he experienced chest pains and was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery, but sadly passed away. Kim is recognized as one of the greatest graphic artists in the world, leaving his impact on society at large through his powerful pen and ink works and serving as a mentor and inspiration for countless illustrators. The South Korean artist is best known for his live drawing sessions, in which his near photographic memory and vivid imagination are put on full display as he crafts incredibly intricate pieces entirely from his mind without any visual reference. Kim holds the Guiness World Record for the “Longest drawi...
