Charli XCX has revealed “Wink Wink,” a new song and the third single off her upcoming album Music, Fashion, Film.
With cheeky overtones and a deadpan delivery, “Wink Wink” is less serious than its predecessor “SS26” and reprises the ironic tone found in the album’s lead single, “Rock Music.” “I used to lick cream off strawberries in the summer/ And maybe I fucked your Dad,” goes one lyric. Over a light, lively alt-rock instrumental, the chorus finds Charli claiming that she’s “not a bad girl anymore/ Wink wink, wink wink.” Watch the song’s official music video, directed by Aidan Zamiri, below.
Charli XCX’s seventh studio album and her follow up to 2024’s Brat will arrive on July 24th. Initially described her “rock album,” Charli discussed the new record further in a recent cover story with Rolling Stone. She said the album is not a literal “rock” record, but a deliberately genre-blurring project shaped by her post-Brat headspace.
