Cheap Trick have taken a lot of heat for performing at the Donald Trump-hosted Kennedy Center Honors, where they played “Rock and Roll All Nite” in tribute to KISS.
In a statement posted to social media on Wednesday, the band insisted that there were no political motives in their decision to play the December 7th event: “We were asked to perform at this year’s Kennedy Center Honors ceremony to pay tribute to our lifelong brothers in KISS, and to support artists and the arts. We agreed to do it for those reasons, and no others.”
KISS were honored alongside Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor, and others at the Kennedy Center Honors. The event will be broadcast on CBS on December 23rd at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
