Weekly Shonen Jump’s fastest-rising phenomenon is officially ready to slice its way onto the global stage. Crunchyroll has secured the worldwide simulcast rights (excluding select Asian territories) for the highly anticipated anime adaptation of Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi, locking in its official premiere for April 2027.

Since its manga debut, Kagurabachi has shattered records, transcended massive internet meme culture to become a legitimate critical darling, and crossed a staggering 4 million copies in circulation. To maintain this hyper-accelerated momentum ahead of the 2027 broadcast, a high-profile “Anime World Tour” will kick off in July 2026, featuring exclusive multi-city premiere screenings of the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 at major conventions like Anime Expo, Japan Expo and Otakon.

The active-production adaptation is being spearheaded by studio Cypic under the parent umbrella of CyberAgent and Shochiku, ensuring a powerhouse creative team is locked in to capture the manga’s dark, cinematic premise. Acclaimed industry veteran Tetsuya Takeuchi (Heavenly Delusion) is directing the series, backed by prominent character designer Keigo Sasaki (Blue Exorcist, The Seven Deadly Sins).

Accompanying the Crunchyroll streaming confirmation, a sleek new character trailer officially announced that veteran voice actor Katsuyuki Konishi (Kamina in Gurren Lagann, Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer) will portray Togo Shiba, the seasoned sorcerer guiding the narrative’s blood-soaked path. He joins newcomer Taihi Kimura, who voices the vengeful protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira. With advanced digital effects layering and uncompromised sword-fighting choreography already being previewed across its initial promotional art, Kagurabachi is primed to stand as one of the most anticipated anime releases for 2027.
