Ex-Turnstile Guitarist Charged with Attempting to Murder Singer's Father

In a shocking update to the attempted murder charges brought against former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert, it turns out that the musician apparently ran over singer Brendan Yates’ 79-year-old father with a car.

Turnstile issued a statement revealing that Ebert “used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father [William Yates], causing severe physical trauma,” and adding that the elder Yates “has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.”

The band’s full statement reads as follows:

“Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community. After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.

In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public. We never addressed it. We chose to protect his privacy and the circumstances around his departure, even when he did nothing to be deserving of that protection. Over the past few months, his threats only escalated further.

This past week, that violence led to a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma. We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.

We have no language left for Brady.

Please respect our privacy in this time.”

According to Fox 5 Washington DC, William Yates’ daughter and her husband were getting their kids from their car and going into William’s home when Ebert pulled up in his vehicle and started honking his horn and shouting obscenities at them.

William came out and warned his family about Ebert, at which time Ebert swerved his car in the direction of William, who in turn threw a rock at Ebert’s vehicle. Ebert then backed up and made a sharp turn to hit William, who suffered severe injuries to both his legs. Ebert apparently then went after Williams’ daughter and grandson, but thankfully didn’t strike them. He then drove away.

The guitarist retained representation from the law firm Alpert Schreyer Trial Attorneys, who put in a request on Thursday for a speedy trial.

Ebert was also ousted from his new band, The S.E.T., earlier this year after making disparaging comments about Turnstile on social media.
