From One Iceman to the Next: Drake Gifted a Full-Scale F1 Car Ice Sculpture for New Release

Summary

  • Drake was gifted a life-sized ice sculpture of a Formula 1 car to celebrate the record-breaking release of his new project, ICEMAN
  • The massive art piece was conceptualized by producer Spinz Beats and hand-delivered alongside OVO Gelo to Drake’s home on release day
  • The sculpture is a direct homage to the iconic McLaren MP4-21 ice car made for F1 legend Kimi Räikkönen at the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix

When Drake drops, the celebrations are always larger than life. To commemorate the record-breaking release of his latest highly anticipated drop, ICEMAN, the Toronto megastar was surprised with a gift that perfectly bridges the worlds of hip-hop and motorsport history. Taking the project’s title literally, producer and creative Daniel “Spinz” Forrest teamed up with OVO Gelo to deliver a full-scale, 1:1 ice sculpture of a Formula 1 car directly to The Boy’s driveway.

The frozen masterpiece is far from a random flex; it is a meticulously planned homage exactly two decades in the making. Back at the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix, legendary F1 driver Kimi Räikkönen—famously dubbed “The Iceman” for his unflappable, ice-cold demeanor on the track—was honored with a full-scale ice sculpture of his McLaren MP4-21. Realizing that the 20-year anniversary of that iconic motorsport moment perfectly aligned with Drake’s new release, Spinz knew he had to bring the legendary concept back to life.

“Two Icemen. Twenty years apart (to the month). One iconic piece of motorsport history reimagined,” Spinz shared via Instagram. To ensure the modern recreation was absolutely flawless, the creative team managed to secure the original CAD files of the MP4-21. With technical assistance from F1 insiders Nick Martin and Mark Norris, and design execution from Mike at MAWG Design, the massive undertaking was sculpted to perfection before being dropped off at Drake’s estate.

As ICEMAN continues to shatter streaming records, this icy tribute stands as one of the most unique and perfectly executed release-day gifts in recent hip-hop history. It is a stunning visual reminder that when it comes to celebrating cultural milestones, the OVO camp remains entirely in a lane of their own.
