Georgel’s Pride Playlist Is a Celebration of Black Queer Artists

Georgel’s Pride Playlist Is a Celebration of Black Queer Artists

In celebration of Pride Month, Mexican singer-songwriter Georgel is honoring and amplifying black queer artists who have inspired and empowered him throughout his career.

The “Que No Nos Importe” singer shared exclusively with Billboard his ultimate pride playlist, which includes songs such as “Pink + White” by Frank OceanTodrick Hall‘s “Boys” and RuPaul’s “Cover Girl,” citing the drag star as “the Oprah of gay culture in my generation.”

During Pride Month, the openly gay singer also took to social media to commemorate the Pulse nightclub shooting victims who died four years ago. In a poignant and heartfelt post, Georgel calls for unity and peace.

“It was the biggest massacre of the century against the LGBTQ+ community in the U.S. We will never forget,” he wrote on Instagram. “I want us to remember all the victims of this terrible act of discrimination that took place during pride month. We are living in a crucial moment in history and to stay silent in acts of racism is not an option. We are united with George Floyd to tell the world that #BlackLivesMatter and that we’re all made of love and that’s the greatest force that will save the world.”

Below, check out Georgel’s ultimate pride playlist.
