GKIDS Announces ‘Lupin the IIIRD: The Immortal Bloodline’ US Theatrical Release Dates

Summary

  • GKIDS will be screening Lupin the IIIRD: The Immortal Bloodline from January 4 – 6, 2026 in select US theaters
  • The film marks the 13th entry in the franchise, and the final entry in Takeshi Koike’s IIIRD saga

GKIDS has announced a limited US theatrical release for Lupin the IIIRD: The Movie – The Immortal Bloodline. This is the 13th film in the overarching Lupin the Third franchise and serves as the final entry in the hard-edged Lupin the IIIRD saga directed by the legendary Takeshi Koike. Koike’s unique, ultra-stylized vision for the world of master thief Lupin III began with the TV series The Woman Called Fujiko Mine and continued through a series of critically acclaimed OVAs, including Jigen’s Gravestone and Goemon’s Blood Spray. The new film is notable as the franchise’s first traditionally animated, feature-length film since Dead or Alive in 1996.

The plot of The Immortal Bloodline follows Lupin III and his allies – Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko – after receiving a cryptic invitation that lures them to an uncharted island. The adventure quickly turns into a battle for survival after their plane is shot down, leaving them stranded and hunted by the island’s inhabitants, past enemies and a monstrous, immortal being named Muom. The film pays homage to the franchise’s history by reusing plot elements from the very first Lupin feature in 1978, while providing a bold, definitive conclusion to Koike’s hard-edged narrative.

Set for a limited three-night run between January 4- 6, 2026, Lupin the IIIRD: The Movie – The Immortal Bloodline will be available at select cinemas in the US, with both original Japanese audio (with English subtitles) and English-dubbed options available.
