Following the viral success of Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Jagged Edge Productions is officially bringing another childhood classic into the public domain slaughterhouse with the first gory trailer for Pinocchio Unstrung.
Serving as the latest entry in the studio’s interconnected “Twisted Childhood Universe,” the upcoming horror film completely reimagines Carlo Collodi’s classic 1883 tale. The dark, coming-of-age story follows the iconic wooden puppet on a deeply unsettling journey to become a real boy. Realizing the difference between a puppet and a human is simply “organs and stuff,” Pinocchio embarks on a gruesome, slasher-style murder spree to harvest skin, intestines, and other body parts from his victims in order to build himself a human body.
The film boasts serious genre pedigree, tapping horror legends Richard Brake to play a fiercely obsessive Geppetto and A Nightmare on Elm Street icon Robert Englund to voice a sinister, manipulative Jiminy Cricket. Directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the production notably leans away from CGI, relying heavily on practical effects to bring its terrifying vision to life. Emmy-winning effects artist Todd Masters was brought on to oversee the film’s gore and practical animatronics, which allowed Pinocchio to be filmed as a fully tangible, terrifyingly real on-set puppet.
Pinocchio Unstrung is currently finalizing its worldwide theatrical rollout via ITN Distribution, with a premiere slated for later in 2026.
