The cinematic universe of mechs is officially expanding as Netflix and Legendary‘s live-action Gundam movie enters production. Directed and produced by Jim Mickle, the upcoming adaptation brings the legendary Bandai Namco Filmworks property to life, introducing an original storyline set amidst a lengthy interstellar conflict.

The project has officially added six new members to its growing roster. Jackson White, Nonso Anozie, Javon “Wanna” Walton, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Ida Brooke, and Jason Isaacs are the latest actors to step into the space-faring adventure. They are set to star alongside previously announced leads Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo, as well as ensemble players Shioli Kutsuna, Michael Mando, and Gemma Chua-Tran.

While specific character details and casting assignments remain closely guarded, the film’s core premise has been unveiled. The narrative follows rival pilots fighting on opposite sides of a decades-long war between Earth and its former space colonies. As shifting allegiances and looming threats pull these pilots into a high-stakes race across the stars, the fate of humanity hangs in the balance.

The production is being spearheaded by Jim Mickle, who steps in as both director and producer alongside his Nightshade partner Linda Moran. Produced by Legendary Pictures in a direct partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks, the adaptation promises to translate the iconic property into a high-stakes, live-action environment. Executive producers include Matthew Jenkins, Makoto Asanuma, and Naohiro Ogata, ensuring the franchise’s rich legacy is maintained as it transitions to an entirely new medium.
