Kwara commissioner urges students to adopt physiotherapy as career
Kwara State will not reveal identities of COVID-19 patients, Commissioner for Health Dr Raji Razaq said on Thursday.

The Commissioner for Health, Kwara, Dr Raji Razaq, has urged students to adopt Physiotherapy as a career choice.

Newsmen reports that Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that deals with helping to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.

The Commissioner made the call on Saturday, while receiving members of the Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy, Kwara State Chapter, in his office on a courtesy visit.

He urged members of the society to review their routine programme in order to include career guidance and counselling.

According to him, this would encourage secondary school students to choose Physiotherapy as a future career option.

Razaq told the delegation that “one of the ways the state government is exploring to reduce medical tourism, is the strengthening of special care services in our hospitals, which include physiotherapy services”.

Speaking earlier, Dr Ibrahim Oseni, the Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Physiotherapy, Kwara State Chapter, commended the state government and the ministry of health for the various achievements recorded thus far in the health sector.

Oseni also called for decentralization of treatment facilities for people in need of the services of physiotherapists to all the senatorial districts.

He explained that the services should be included in all the General Hospitals in each of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
