Slipknot’s long-shelved 2008 album, Look Outside Your Window, is finally seeing the light of day as a Record Store Day 2026 release.
Rather than being branded as a proper Slipknot release, the 12-inch vinyl is labeled as a self-titled project from Look Outside Your Window. Limited to 2,300 copies, the fabled album was recorded as a side project by band members Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson, and Shawn “Clown” Crahan during the 2008 sessions for Slipknot’s fourth LP, All Hope Is Gone.
“We knew we were heading down a different creative path, entirely apart from Slipknot, and we followed it eagerly,” the group explained in a statement (via Knotfest). “We called the project Look Outside Your Window as a tribute to this experimental spirit.”

They continued: “Created during a chaotic time in our shared history, the songs were born late at night, in a house on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Peering out through a big picture window, we wondered about what, or who, might be lurking outside. That sense of the unknown seeped into the music itself. There were no rules; ideas could come from anywhere: subtle drum loops, bits of organ or abstract guitar noise, even samples of frogs or crickets. Guided by emotion and instinct, we let the sounds themselves point the way.”
Last December, Clown made a promise in a Discord Q&A for his Minecraft server that Look Outside Your Window would arrive in 2026 after it missed several previously teased release dates in 2019, 2023, and 2024.
