Lykke Li Announces New Album THE AFTERPARTY, Unveils First Single "Lucky Again"

Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li is back with news of her a new album called THE AFTERPARTY, and its first single, “Lucky Again.”

Out on May 8th via Neon Gold Records/Futures, THE AFTERPARTY marks Li’s first album in four years since 2022’s EYEYE. In a press release, the singer explains what sets this project apart from her previous LPs. “I was twirling around in love addiction for all those albums,” she said. “Now, I’m going into my existential era.”

Li redefines herself on the album’s first preview, “Lucky Again,” which is out today. With its maximalist pop sound and distinctly disco feel, the track feels like a fresh rebirth for an artist who’s determined to discover something new.

“To me, it’s samsara in a song,” she further explained. “The wheel of life: winning, losing, living, dying. Having had something and praying you’ll have it again. Whether it’s sex, money, vitality, love. I always said I wanted the Vivaldi song at my wedding or funeral, but I think this is giving more revenge heist energy.”

Li’s upcoming album follows a 2025 EP of cover songs. The project, aptly titled Covers, featured her minimalist takes on “Into My Arms” by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King, and “Love Hurts’ by The Everly Brothers.

Later this year, Lykke Li will make a series of festival appearances, including Coachella, as well as a date opening for Robyn. See her touring schedule below and get tickets here.
