M. Night Shyamalan and Brad Falchuk have announced a live-action series based on Mattel‘s Magic 8 Ball.
Mattel Studios and Shyamalan broke the news on social media, posting a photo of a script and an actual Magic 8 Ball on the side. Deadline reports that the series will “reimagine the classic Magic 8 Ball as the centerpiece of a high-concept, character-driven supernatural drama that blends psychological intensity with cultural intrigue.”
Shyamalan will direct while Falchuk will write. Both will also serve as co-creator and co-showrunner.
The Magic 8 Ball was invented in 1946 by Albert C. Carter and Abe Bookman, and now sells a million units per year.
