Nocs has announced the launch of Braque, a new active stereo system that marries sculptural design with precision audio engineering. Developed at Studio D A and engineered at the Nocs Lab, the system takes its name from Georges Braque, the Cubist master who explored geometry, duality, and the reduction of form.
The aesthetic centerpiece of the system is its stacked architecture: two cubes working as a single instrument. This stable, symmetrical structure is formed by a steel cube, hand-cut, welded, and brushed in Sweden, paired with a plywood speaker cube assembled in Estonia. This design places the speakers at an ideal listening height for a clear, focused stereo field.
“Braque is about space – physical and sonic. By working with a larger enclosure and a coaxial driver, we were able to shape a sound that’s natural, open, and honest,” Daniel Alm said in a statement. “It reveals what’s in the recording without adding anything of its own, which is the core of our Studio Sound approach.”
He continued, “Braque opens up new possibilities for us. With its form and weight distribution, it can live in many different positions – on a stand, suspended, or integrated into a space. I’m curious to explore how it can work in larger installations and environments.”
The Braque is powered by dual Celestion FTX0820 coaxial drivers and dual Hypex FA122 amplifier modules. Final tuning is done in the Nocs Lab in Sweden to preserve the integrity of original recordings. Supporting both classic and modern setups, it includes a wide range of analog and digital inputs, such as Stereo RCA, Balanced XLR, Optical (TOSLINK), and Coaxial digital.
The system will be produced in numbered editions with an SRP of €6000 EUR and $6000 USD. Availability begins in January 2026.
