Paramount is officially developing Rush Hour 4 after reports of President Donald Trump personally requesting a new film.

As per Variety, original franchise director Brett Ratner — who was accused of rape, sexual assault and harassment in 2017 — will return to helm Rush Hour 4. Franchise stars Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker will also reprise their roles as Chief Inspector Lee and Detective James Carter, respectively. A plot and casting details are yet to be announced.

Chan initially announced Rush Hour 4 in 2022, but no further announcements were made.

The buddy cop action comedy franchise released its first film in 1998, second in 2001 and the third in 2007. All three titles performed well in the box office, currently grossing a worldwide total of $850.8 million USD against the $264 million USD to $305 million USD budgets.
