Not for the first time, hip-hop fans have heard the name Pooh Shiesty and asked themselves, “What is this shit?” According to the Department of Justice (and via TMZ) Shiesty has been arrested and charged with robbing and kidnapping his former label boss, Gucci Mane.
According to the DOJ, on January 10th Shiesty and several associates invited Gucci Mane and two other industry executives to a Dallas studio to discuss Shiesty’s contract. The Feds allege that the Shiesty crew then “executed an armed takeover,” refusing to allow the men to leave until they signed a contract release form at gunpoint. Jewelry, watches, and cash were reportedly stolen in the robbery.
Shiesty was arrested on Wednesday, April 1st. A total of eight other suspects were also taken into custody, including fellow-rapper Big30, as well as Shiesty’s father.
Once one of the most steaming-hot names in rap, Shiesty has been beset by legal troubles, as well as the kind of poor judgment that you might expect from non-cartoon bears who call themselves Pooh. He just got out of jail six months ago for shooting a man in the ass, but if that was infraction No. 1, he’ll likely be remembered even longer for going No. 2.
