Roc Nation Claims Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Drew 4.157 Billion Views in 24 Hours

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX performance generated 4.157 billion worldwide views within the first 24 hours, according to Roc Nation. The JAY-Z-led entertainment company, which produces the halftime show, said the figure set a new viewing record across the US broadcast, international broadcasts, YouTube, and other digital platforms.

While the specific components of the tally weren’t provided, and independent verification wasn’t confirmed, Roc Nation is counting this as a record audience.

Official Nielsen and Adobe Analytics streaming data recorded 128.2 million viewers for Bad Bunny’s performance, making it the fourth most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in its tracking history — behind only Kendrick Lamar (133.5 million), Michael Jackson, and Usher. It’s unclear where Roc Nation is getting the remainder of its tally, but Variety previously reported that total social consumption — including fans, owned platforms, broadcast partners, and influencers — hit four billion views after 24 hours.

After Donald Trump and a swath of his followers threw a tantrum about the Spanish-language-speaking Bad Bunny being selected as the headliner, Turning Point USA offered an alternative to Bad Bunny’s performance — the All-American Halftime Show. The event, which was pre-taped and featured a lip-syncing Kid Rock, was critiqued from inception to execution. Turning Point USA’s offering drew 6.1 million viewers during its initial live stream, according to the New York Times.

Following the Super Bowl, GOP representatives called for an investigation into Bad Bunny’s performance, which they alleged potentially violated decency standards. However, an FCC review found no infractions regarding its profanity and obscenity rules.

Bad Bunny’s wins keep coming. Just last month, the Puerto Rican artist’s “DtMF” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his second chart topper (after “I Like It” with Cardi B and J Balvin), and the first on his own. The chart success comes after the international artist won multiple awards at this year’s Grammys, including Best Música Urbana Album, Best Global Music Performance, and the history-making Album of the Year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, the first Spanish-language album to win.

“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE out,” Bad Bunny stated during his acceptance speech for Best Música Urbana Album. “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”
