ROSÉ has officially dropped her first solo studio album, rosie.
Clocking in at just under 40 minutes, the 12-track effort features a sole guest appearance from Bruno Mars on the viral chart-topping hit “APT.” as well as includes the previously-released “number one girl.” The BLACKPINK staple utilizes the help of producers such as Carter Lang, who worked on SZA’s Ctrl and SOS, Ye collaborators Ojivolta, GRAMMY winner Greg Kurstin and even Mars himself. rosie hears the artist enjoy her time as a solo act, exploring sonic spaces outside of her girl group and co-writing lyrics that take from her own personal life — heartbreak, toxic exes and the weight of fame.
In a previous interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, ROSÉ shared that creating the album was like therapy for her, allowing her to become a different person than when she first started writing it, “I literally think this album is just a little capsule. When I listen to my songs, I remember every minute of it and everything I went through.” She continued, “And without this album, I think I would’ve carried a lot of the past version of myself through till today, because to be honest… It was like a therapy session. So I’ve bottled it up into this thing called, ‘Rosie.’ And so I’ve walked out of every single studio with a story and walked out feeling like I left it in that song.”
