The Sakamoto Days anime is officially returning for a second season, as announced during the Jump Festa ‘26 event over the weekend. The news was accompanied by a fresh teaser trailer and visual, offering a first glimpse into the next chapter of the legendary retired hitman’s story.
As previewed in the trailer, the upcoming season will focus on the Japan Clear Creation (JCC). This elite academy, which trains aspiring hitmen and serves as the alma mater of protagonist Taro Sakamoto, will be a central location for the new arc. Familiar faces from Season 1, including Shin Asakura and Order members Yoichi Nagumo and Shishiba, are also prominently featured in the teaser.
Produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Masaki Watanabe, the first season debuted in early 2025. It introduced Taro Sakamoto, once the world’s most feared assassin, who retired to embrace a peaceful life as a husband, father and convenience store owner. Despite his physical transformation and desire for a quiet life, Sakamoto must constantly utilize his skills to shield his family from his violent past.
Beyond the anime, the series is also expanding into live-action. A feature film is scheduled to release on April 29, 2026, starring Snow Man’s Ren Meguro as Sakamoto and Fumiya Takahashi as Shin. While the official release date for Season 2 has not yet been confirmed, fans can check out the new trailer for a first look above.
