Earlier this month, Consequence surveyed the first half of 2025 with our mid-year report, highlighting the best music the year has offered fans so far. Well, just within the few weeks since then, there’s already a long list of new contenders that are right there in contention with our previous favorite. Like, a long list. Far be it from us to complain about an influx of worthwhile music, though!

From Addison Rae proving her star power to our June CoSigns Hotline TNT continuing their hot streak, Little Simz wowing us once again to Greet Death providing the soundtrack to a summer of melancholy, these are the records from the past four weeks that have us coming back for listen after listen. Across the album, she sings startlingly over stripped-down soundscapes, often pushing her earthy vocals into heartrending territory. “It’s the same, same unrest/ Sitting in my chest,” she sings on “Unrest,” a knowing, quavering ache echoing throughout her delivery. — Kiana Fitzgerald
