NSE market capitalisation opens week with N162 billion loss
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) market capitalisation opened the week on Monday with a loss of N162 billion in a day. Specifically, the market capitalisation which opened at N12.695 trillion lost N162 billion to close at N12.533 trillion. Also, the All-Share Index (ASI) shed 310.07 points or 1.27 per cent to close at 24,026.05 compared with 24,336.12 achieved on Friday. The downturn was impacted by losses recorded in medium and large capitalised stocks, amongst which are Nestle, Beta Glass, BUA Cement, Julius Berger and C & I Leasing. Taraba governor launches 100-bed capacity isolation centre
Gov. Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Monday launched a 100-bed capacity isolation and treatment centre at the state NYSC Orientation Camp in Jalingo. He said that the establishment of the centre was part of measures to tackle the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Taraba. Represented by his Deputy, Haruna Manu, the governor said “there is currently no single case of COVID-19 in Taraba.” He explained that the move was, however, aimed at taking precautionary measures toward checking any spread in the event of an emergency. Trading resumes after Eid-el-Fitr celebration with 0.07% growth
The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) reopened trading on Wednesday after the public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration with a marginal growth of 0.07 per cent. Speficially, the All-Share Index rose by 16.48 points or 0.07 per cent to close at 25,221.23 compared with 25,204.75 achieved on Friday. The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) resumed trading for the week on Monday on a positive trend, with the market capitalisation rising by N37 billion. Speficially, the market capitalisation which opened at N12.440 trillion rose by N37 billion to close at N12.477 trillion, indicating by 0.30 per cent. Also, the All-Share Index grew by 70.42 points or 0.30 per cent to close at 23,941.75 against 23,871.33 achieved on Friday.
