Run the Jewels’ “yankee and the brave (ep. 4)” video Over the weekend, Run the Jewels aired their “Holy Calamavote” concert special on Adult Swim, giving a live debut to their latest masterpiece, RTJ4. Now, RTJ has today shared a cartoon video for the album track “yankee and the brave (ep. 4)”. Once again presented by Adult Swim, the Sean Solomon-directed clip was animated by Titmouse, the production house behind shows like Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros., and Big Mouth. For “yankee and the brave (ep. 4)”, they drew up a complete retelling of the track’s narrative — only with evil mechanical police as the antagonists. Though as Titmouse founder Chris Prynoski explained in a statement, there may actually be some truth to this fiction. “Killer Mike and El-P, would f*** up ...

GOTV Meets WFH: We’re eight months into a global pandemic and 17 days away from the strangest presidential election in modern memory, so it’s no huge shock that this year’s get-out-the-vote efforts look drastically different than past cycles. Mostly, that’s meant a shift away from performing at rallies and towards ensuring that all votes get counted safely and fairly. Those efforts have taken various shapes that conform to our current isolation, from the swing state organizing of Justin Vernon’s for Wisconsin initiative to charity Bandcamp compilations like Talk-Action=Zero Vol. 2 and Good Music to Prevent the Collapse of American Democracy to weary remote testimonials shared in a recent Pitchfork feature. Enter Run the Jewels. The Atlanta hip-hop duo of Killer Mike and El-P already owned ...
Today, Adult Swim announced the 2020 edition of its annual festival, and like so many other events this year, it’s going virtual. The global livestream takes place next month and boasts performances from Robyn and Mastodon, as well as exclusive live streams with talent from Rick and Morty and The Eric Andre Show, a world premiere of Run the Jewels x Cyberpunk 2077 music video, a special edition of Toonami where hosts Tom and Sarah will give you the scoop on the new Playstation PS5. More than 20 additional musical acts and live streams are set to be announced closer to the event. The festival’s merchandise store is going virtual too, offering items like Power to the People face masks — designed in partnership with Run the Jewels with proceeds benefiting the ACLU — Adult ...
Run the Jewels are set to perform their latest masterpiece, RTJ4, live for the first time during a special one-off concert televised on Adult Swim. The bad news is that due to a COVID-19 scare with a crew member, RTJ have pushed back the performance by one week — to Saturday, October 17th. The good news is that once Killer Mike and El-P finally do take the stage, they’ll be joined by some high-profile guest collaborators: Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, soul legend Mavis Staples, and comedian Eric Andre are all set to guest on the broadcast. De La Rocha has three collaborative tracks with Run the Jewels: “Close Your Eyes (and Count to Fuck)”, “Kill Your Masters”, and “Ju$t”. The latter track appears on RTJ4 alongside the Homme and Staples ...
Season 5 of The Eric Andre Show is set to premiere in just a few weeks, and if its new trailer is any indication, fans can expect another wild, scream-filled ride. In this first teaser, Eric Andre looks as deranged and maniacal as ever — he proudly drives a dirt bike straight into his desk, strangles a creepy clown, and gets shot in the chest before completely disintegrating. At one point, the comedian even rips off his very own head and uses the bloody thing as a soccer ball. (Points for creativity!) Watch down below, followed by a few stills from the show. Along with a headless Andre and trusty co-host Hannibal Buress, the new season promises a long list of fun musical guests, including Grimes, Anderson. Paak, Lil Yachty, Toro y Moi, Big Freedia, and Joey Bada$$. NBA star Blake Grif...
Several episodes of the Adult Swim series Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Boondocks, and The Shivering Truth have been “permanently retired due to cultural sensitivities,” The Daily Beast has learned. The Adult Swim archives are part of the massive library offered by new streaming service HBO Max. But certain controversial episodes didn’t migrate over. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is missing the Season 6 shocker “Shake Like Me”, in which Shake is bitten by a radioactive Black person, the experience of which changes his appearance and behavior to be more stereotypically Black. ATHF also arrived without the incomplete Season 5 episode “Boston”, which is a parody of a real-life bomb scare caused by the guerrilla marketing campaign for the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film...
