Bayonne Announces New Album Temporary Time, Shares “Right Thing”: Stream

Austin electronic artist Bayonne has announced his third studio album, Temporary Time. The LP is out May 26th via Nettwerk, and along with the news, he’s shared first single “Right Thing.” “To me the overall narrative of Temporary Time is the events following my Dad’s cancer diagnosis in early 2019,” Bayonne said in a statement. “The record explores the emotional journey we went through as a family coming to terms with his declining health. Not every song covers this, but that presentiment is lingering in the back of my mind through it all.” Bayonne continued, “During much of the recording process, I was in a pretty deep state of depression, which is pronounced throughout some of the lyricism. I started focusing on my mental health and things eventually became much easier for me, but ...

To celebrate the news, the Asheville indie rock band have shared the new single “Chosen to Deserve” today, as well as a bunch of tour dates for 2023. The 10-track LP — which includes the previously-released epic “Bull Believer” — is available to pre-order now. “Chosen to Deserve” is a prime example of Wednesday’s specific sound, infusing their ’90s-inspired lo-fi rock with a subtle, homey country twang. “‘Chosen to Deserve’ is a writing exercise I gave ...

Maybe I’m proud of the horrible grey streets and the shit weather and the stupid fashions I find myself investing in. It’s just that the English we’re proud of being is absolutely nothing like the English the authorities want to try and promote.” Over A...

Belle and Sebastian Premiere New Album Late Developer: Stream

Surprise! Less than a year after their latest album A Bit of Previous, Belle and Sebastian return today with another new full-length called Late Developers. Listen to it in full below via Bandcamp. Clocking in at 11 songs, Late Developers was recorded during the same sessions as A Bit of Previous. But as punk rocker and B&S superfan Jeff Rosenstock writes in the album’s liner notes, Late Developers “doesn’t feel like a collection of lesser-than songs that weren’t good enough to go on the ‘real’ record,” instead evoking the freedom and proficiency of skilled painters on “a jumbo-sized canvas.” Lead single “I Don’t Know What You See In Me” puts that metaphor into effect, swapping out Belle and Sebastian’s typical indie-pop jangle for a heavy dose of ’80s synth-po...

U2 Reimagine 40 of Their Songs on New Album Songs of Surrender

On St. Patrick’s Day, U2 will unveil their new album Songs of Surrender. Taking a page from Taylor Swift, the forthcoming collection sees the band reimagine 40 songs from their back catalog. U2’s The Edge previewed the project in a handwritten note sent to fans. “The fact is that most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now,” The Edge wrote. “Some have grown with us. Some we have outgrown. But we have not lost sight of what propelled us to write those songs in the first place. The essence of those songs is still in us, but how to reconnect with that essence when we have moved on, and grown so much? “Music allows you to time travel and so we started to imagine what it would be like to bring these songs...
