Mura Masa Announces New Album demon time, Shares “blessing me”: Stream
Mura Masa has announced his third album, demon time, out on September 16th via Polydor Records, while also unleashing the new single “blessing me” featuring Gambian-British breakout Pa Salieu and Jamaican rapper Skillibeng. The stacked guest list also includes Lil Uzi Vert, PinkPantheress, and Shygirl (who all appear on the previous single “bbycakes”), as well as slowthai, Lil Yachty, Channel Tres, Erika de Casier, Leyla, and more. Popstar-turned-daytime television ray of sunshine Kelly Clarkson regularly performs covers of songs new and old on her eponymous talk show. Now, she’s bringing KELLYOKE to tape with her new EP. The six-song covers project is out June 9th via Atlantic, and as a preview, Clarkson has shared her rendition of Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever.” Clarkson and her band have covered over 500 songs since The Kelly Clarkson Show premiered in 2019, and while the television performances have long charmed the internet, KELLYOKE offers new studio recordings of a few choice tracks, from Eilish’s 2021 single to a Radiohead classic to a song from Linda Ronstadt. After a pair of singles, Oliver Sim — aka one-third of 2010s indie stalwarts The xx — has finally announced his debut solo album. It’s called Hideous Bastard, and it’ll be out September 9th via Young. To accompany the announcement, Sim has shared the track “Hideous,” and he also spoke about the making of the record in a new wide-ranging interview with The New York Times. Written and recorded over the span of two years, Hideous Bastard is largely inspired by Sim’s love of horror movies, using the tropes found in classic slashers like Halloween to unpack his own real-life experiences with shame, fear, and masculinity. Antonio Sánchez has released “I Think We’re Past That Now,” his new collaboration with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross which features lyrics penned by the Nine Inch Nails frontman. Joey Bada$$ Announces New Album 2000, North American Tour
Joey Bada$$ has announced his first album in five years. Titled 2000, the LP is out June 17th via Columbia Records and will arrive almost exactly 10 years after the release of his breakout debut mixtape, 1999. The record will also be supported by a summer 2022 North American tour. Not much else is known about the follow-up to 2017’s ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$, but Joey recently told XXL that the album will include production from Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight, Cardo, Mike WiLL Made-It, and possibly DJ Premier. When he died of a heart attack in 2019, New Orleans music legend Dr. John was in the midst of working on an album. Now three years after his passing, that LP has finally been given a title and posthumous release date: Things Happen That Way is due out on September 23rd via Rounder Records. At 10 tracks long, Things Happen That Way is composed of some of the final tracks Dr. John — real name Mac Rebennack — ever wrote, as well as a slew of covers by some of his most admired forebears.
