Arab Strap Announce New Album As Days Get Dark, Share “Compersion Pt. 1”: Stream
Mere months after dropping a new song out of nowhere, Arab Strap have returned with even bigger news. The Scottish indie rockers have just announced their first new album in 16 years. It’s called As Days Get Dark and it’s due out March 5th via Rock Action. As Days Get Dark follows Arab Strap’s great 2005 album The Last Romance, shortly after which they called it quits. This new full-length spans 11 tracks in total, including “The Turning of Our Bones”, which they dropped in September. The song was put out as a standalone number, but now we know it’s actually the album opener on As Days Get Dark, according to the tracklist. Elton John has announced a massive, career-spanning box set titled Elton: Jewel Box. Due out November 13th, the eight-disc collection was curated by John himself and boasts all sorts of rarities, B-sides, and fan favorites. As a preview, he’s sharing a previously unreleased track from 1969 called “Sing Me No Sad Songs”. The 148-song (!) set is split into four main sections, “Deep Cuts”, “B-Sides”, “Rarities”, and And This Is Me… The first two discs aptly feature deep cuts that are supposedly personal favorites of John’s, while the next three discs comprise of rarities categorized chronologically: Rarities Part One 1965-1968, Rarities Part Two 1968, and Rarities Part Three 1968-1971. The Avalanches have announced their first new album in four years, We Will Always Love You. The group shared the cover art by Jonathan Zawada and promised more details “soon.” The plunderphonic pioneers have been teasing the follow-up to 2016’s Wildflowers since last September. In a since-deleted Instagram post, the group shared a picture of the Voyager Golden Record, along with the news that LP3 was already getting mixed. FUZZ are back and they’re ready to blow out your speakers. Ty Segall’s beloved garage rock trio have announced a new album as well as a lengthy tour that extends through next year.
